Imagewell and Dreamhost?
Younghusband (18 pencils) | Mon, 2005-10-17 08:02Ivan, I know that you have at least tried Imagewell, how did you get it work with Dreamhost? I keep getting username/password errors and nothing seems to be wrong. What paths did you use?
FTP
server.dreamhost.com
username
password
/mydomain.com/images/
http://mydomain.com/images/
There's nothing wrong with that right?

Let me check the settings I have on Imagewell at home and get back to you. It does work. It is probably the default path that creating a problem. Either you have to delete a trailing dash or add the domain or something like that.
Oh, and if I may ask can you please vote for Adsoftheworld.com at the Dreamhost Site Of The Month (DHSOTM). Please give me a ten if I deserve! ;)
You can access the polls in your control panel under Home/DHSOTM.
I've had the same issues.
In fact, I've had the same problem with Transmit as well. I think a recent Apple security update completely hosed something that both programs use. Thus far, the only fix I have (for both apps) is to not use the "bookmarks" but enter the URL, UN and PW each time you want to upload. It's a PITA, and with ImageWell, it makes the app pretty much useless. Hopefully, Apple will fix this soon.

Here are my settings:
FTP
Host name:ftp.domain.com
Username:username
Password:****
Directory:domain.com/files
URL for viewing in browser:domain.com/files
So, no trailing slashes at the end...
Hi Ivan,
I guess the first step is to try to upload with Transmit or another FTP program. Looking at Jim D's comment, it looks like Transmit doesn't work either and I don't think that would be an Apple issue, but a Dreamhost issue. ImageWell has it's own copy of 'curl' (the unix utility used for uploading files) so it's not affected by Apple updates.
Once you have the settings for uploading to Dreamhost, I can help with translating them for ImageWell (it should almost be the same).
Host Name: this is the FTP server your basic ftp.servername.com
Username and Password: should be the same settings in Transmit
Directory: some servers have a 'public_html' directory where the webserver files are located, others don't. When you log in with transmit and directories that you change to, to get to the place where you want to upload the files just add them here separated by '/'s
Uncheck the Warn me before overwritting the file on server box when first setting up the setting in ImageWell to keep the debuging simple.

I have no problems with Transmit. I have been a happy user for years now. Imagewell still doesn't seem to want to work, even when I mimic your settings Ivan... Too bad, seems like a nice little piece of kit.
