Hi, the first one seems more appropirate. The darker blue background housing the symbol grounds the logo and gives it importance. The name Imperial is strong and calls for substance which is displayed in the first logo. I believe this is a "column" image?

I feel lost in the second logo. I am not sure what the images are and how they relate to the name of the company.

Lorenza's comments are good; I, too, find the second one confusing and I also don't like the l/c italc "investment group." It looks like an afterthought. The first one is really eye-catching. TO enhance the importance of the capital "I" and the classic columnar look, I would thicken it up . I'd also stretch the "Investments Group" to the edges of "IMPERIAL" above. In the "IMPERIAL," it looks to me as if you could use a little more kerning betweenthe R and the I.

Is that a bevel effect on the mark, by the way> I'm not sure you need it. Is this client ready to spend extra for three-color printing? If not, make the text that dark teal.

Agreed. And do this in black and white first and scale it down to make sure it will work for all types of print and web applications.
