Indesign CS3 width*height
cosmos (30 pencils) | Fri, 2007-09-14 23:51
I was using Width and Height (picture) to change the size of image or some object, but in ID CS2, in new version CS3, if I do the same thing, he only put a viewable size smaller,, but picture size stays the same...
I'm using now 'Free transform tool' to put some image smaller or bigger, but that procedure isn't very precise..
so,, where did they put old fashion "transform" to change the size of image/object (picture).
thanx

This sure seems like a bug to me....definitely very annoying. The quickest solution I have found to the problem is to select your object, then double-click on the Scale tool, then type in your new dimentions....but you can't just type a 4 if you want it to be 4 inches or cm...you have to type in "4in"....otherwise it will make it 4% by default. I would love to hear if anyone else has a better solution. Hopefully this will get fixed in an update.
Yes, it's very annoying, because,, if I scale it manualy, I can necer put exact 300mm, it's always 299 od 301 and that isn't right :((

Create the box size you want, import the image and fit to window.
Or resize using percentages.

Why not resize the images in photoshop with Automation?

look, I think you dont understand the problem :(
if you was using ID cs2, and now ID CS3, with the way that I described.. thats dont work.
let we say that you don't have images ready and you need to scale them in ID. Before, I was using the way where I only put the size in cm, and thats it.. very fast very smooth, Yes, ofcouerse, you have more ways to do that, but no that fast.
but I've found out that the change was on base of some test of 200 power users and their way using the shortcuts and everything,, and they saw that this is way better usage of that tool :(

I always thought you had to back away from the screen to reduce something, and move in real close to enlarge it! ;-)
