InDesign jagged photos
carole (6 points) | Wed, 2009-07-15 16:38I reinstalled 10.3.9 on my G5 and then had problems with InDesign hanging. Some of the photos in a big document (a cookbook) came out jagged with big pixels. I opened the backup copy on a CD and same thing. I removed InDesign and reinstalled it, same thing. I opened a new document in InDesign, drew a picture box, chose Place and clicked on a photo. Same thing. I know there must be a simple tweak, but I don't know what it is. Help!
Have you tried playing with your InDesign display settings? I know this works in CS2 (yes, I'm that far behind)... but right-click somewhere on your screen and go down to Display Performance... if it's on Fast or Typical Display, that could be why your images are looking shoddy - it's optimizing your view so you can work faster in the document. If you put it on High Quality, your images should render clean (but you might encounter slower performance as you work in your document).
This setting is also under the "View" menu if you can't find it for some reason by right-clicking your mouse.
Hope this helps.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! It worked. So simple, but I had no idea. Thanks again.
Carole
You're welcome. :) Glad to save you from another re-install!
You can also set the Display Performance settings in the InDesign preferences.

I thought the OP was talking about print output. If your images ever come out fuzzy on proofs etc - its most likely a missing link. InDesign creates a Low Res version of every link you place for preview purposes.
