The Ingredients (Music group)
Noble (48 points) | Tue, 2009-10-13 04:13Heres a couple of sketches I've done for a music group called "The ingredients"
A brief description on the ingredients; different sounding music that has never been created before, we have the ingredients to make amazing meals (music).
Here's a couple of adjectives from them to describe the group; cool, tasty, flashy, musical, and interesting.
So I started off with some musical symbols that can be seen as a face or just the musical note, and played around with typography.

The note as spoon sketches appeal to me more than the others, but none QUITE pop yet. Still, I think you could do something awesome along those lines. Keep sketching! :)
Christ, did you just use the word "pop"? Please hand in your Graphic Designers card at the door.

I'm going to print it out and eat it.

LOL! So I'm old and use old terms. Sue me. :P
Im not sure that this musical note is working for me, all i seem to be able to see is a sperm trying to fertilize an egg!!! Number 6 looks like a childs drawing of a cock and balls, number 9 is nice cause you cant really make out the musical note, but i like the layer's and colours.
Sorry, just saying what i see,
16 billion colours and you choose the one i cant create !??!
LOL! And what did you eat for breakfast to get this sort of thinking happening...bangers and mash?!

and a mug of tea!

I like the musical note in 3 as a mark and how you've worked a graphic into 2, but I don't think you're quite there yet.
Good luck...methinks this one is going to be a toughy.

The whole "meal" connection is just way too tenuous and patently contrived imho. Sounds to me like a group of senior citizen musicians trying to be "hip" or something. In my head the logo I see is one of those early '60s bouncing letter things on the different colored placards or something. Maybe with the musical note being the "d" as in #2. None of the bowls work for me and just having a musical note with the name is not really a logo imo. My suggestion would be some kind of text only resolution. This is the kind off thing where you can dig into those quirky display fonts you never get to use.
Nothing about any of these logos makes me excited enough about the group to want to hear their music. i think you should go with a fun, strictly typographical approach.
Back in the day sketching involved the use of a pencil / pen and paper. Not sure when that changed but it's a sure sign I'm approaching the age of dirt.
At least you did a bunch of different versions, but honestly your typography is not 'cool, tasty, flashy, musical or interesting'. In IMHO it's the opposite. The wordmark needs to be much stronger and in better proportion to the logo.
Good start, but keep going.
*raises hand*
I still use a pencil and paper. But then, it's already been established that I'm OLD....lol
no good
ok musical simbol could be a spoon but
please dont be so "I'm a musical symbol la la la"
yes I'm brazilian xD
Thanks everyone for the feed back. Its been a challenge to find a mark that fits there style, but i'm working on it. I will work with more typography. I agree as i look back on my "sketch pad" that none of these logo marks stand out to me that represents them. Thanks again for the help everyone. I appreciate it.
i like the music symbol and the font used in num3, also like the symbol in num9 part from that needs more work.
