This is a client that wants something a little updated. They are currently at http://www.taylorlombardo.com/. Ok now that site I did for them in 1998, and it is as old as it can get, and have done updating in terms of projects [but not layout] until present day. They wanted a liitle revised look, they are pretty trraditional, so I got them this mock that you are seeing as a first draft. The owner keeps wanting something like this, the URL he keeps throwing at me. http://www.bcj.com . Is it me or is this site no better than my mock? I mean I can trump my mock for sure, I have only spent a little time on it. I guess what I am asking is am I missing something brilliant at www.bcj.com? Not sure why they reference that so much. Maybe they just like their work. Looking for some fresh eyes.

I think I actually like your version better than bcj. Just one question, why isn't "home" the first link? Good job!
possibly a competitor that they look up to, i wouldn't copy the look per se..

I guess I haven't framed an interesting enough question with 2 responses in 63 reads. I appreciate the feedback you two have provided. I am going to bug the heck out of them until I get what I need to move forward. Time for some client education. I think you are right Josh, they like the other firm's architecture work and it is influencing their emotive response.

I prefer your version to the site they are referencing. I think the Flash might be a factor the referenced site is liked.
Try to add some Flash to your site as well, but something more creative than just tweening images. You may want to try to rotate the little squares of yours like in the memory game or like the new iTunes screensaver does. It might look pretty cool. :)
