Intel Peak Light aka Apple Thunderbolt

This is just a rumor at this stage, but it looks like tomorrow Intel and Apple will launch a new standard that could eventually replace the current SCSI, SATA, USB, FireWire and PCI Express technologies. At launch it will have a 10 gigabit / second speed and based on copper, but later it can go up to 100 gigabit with light.
What this means in practice for the user? Much Faster sync with your mobile devices. The current USB 2.0 speeds are at around 0.5 gigabit / seconds, so Thunderbolt will be 20 times faster, which will make syncing almost instantaneous.
USB 1.1 = 12 Mbit/s
Firefire 400 = 400 Mbit/s
USB 2.0 = 480 Mbit/s
FireWire 800 = 800 Mbit/s
USB 3.0 = 5 Gbit/s
eSATA = Up to 6 Gbit/s
LightPeak = 10 Gbit/s (later 100 Gbit/s)
Also, it will reduce cable clutter. You can combine power, video signal and data stream all into one cable.
