Internet tech company logo

The company's name is "2bits". This company is developing internet solutions. It should be hi-tech and business like at the same time. I was told to think of Matrix when I design the logo. What do you think?
I wanted to create this optical trick where your eye sort of sees dots jumping around between the boxes like they were electrons in an integrated circuit.

I didn't see the 2 until I
I didn't see the 2 until I read the name in the description. Cool logo and colours, although I find it a bit busy for my liking. Do you think it will keep the optical effect when in grayscale?

Awesome Job Ivan !!
Hey man, I love that logo!
For me you got the optical illusion spot on! I love the way the logo looks, feels and it just shouts 'digital' to me.
Congrats ivan!
Too tall..
I think it's too tall in this image and frankly I've seen that kind of design earlier so I hope your customer don't think it's a all new design using blocks..
Othervise I'm not sure about that green.. especially not that strong green, it kinda screams out and too colorful green makes it hard to see.. If they gonna use this on stickers for the company cars perhaps or something ppl will just see something green flashing forward..
I would choose colors that are nice for your eyes..
Sweet
I like it alot. Simple and unique, cool name to play around with too. Nice job congrats!

I enjoy the creativeness
I enjoy the creativeness part of the logo, but in a business sense, it might take too long to see the 2. People might just think that the company is called "bits."

The 2?
Nice work, but the 2 is hard to see, maybe what is cauisng the problem to see the number are the darkgrey squares.
Color Blind
Being color blind it reminds me too much of the Ishihara Test. I also did not notice the 2 until after reading the description.
The greens are just too much for me but I usually stick to colors I can more easily see and differentiate between.
That's interesting..
What colors do you have problems with?
If I'm not mistaken is it different between persons or is there like a more generally rule that color blinds can't see..
I think this is somewhere of a forgotten issue..
Could you mention some logos you have trouble seeing?
According to the online test
According to the online test I have a red-green deficientcy but I haven't taken the real test with an eye doctor since I was a child.
Looking at that site above, from the top left the numbers I see are 25, 20, ?, 56, ? and a 5 or 8. Also in the bottom circle I see a 2.
As far as logos I have trouble seeing... nothing really comes to mind right now but if I come across any I will be sure to post them.

Thanks for the link.
You are color blind and you work as a designer? I had a very good friend and collegue who was color blind and he asked collegues to check his work when he was finished, because some colors he didn't see, but of course he could still check them through numbers.
I once read about..
A guy in Sweden who saw colors on words.. I've forgotten what it calls but it's very unusual gift/disortion to the brain.
This is was an unusual thing in the brain.. it's like he seeing creative as red while it's light gray to the rest of us..
I read more about it, it turns out those various people who had that gift/disortion in their brain were often very artistic and creative.. I thought it was pretty cool though, so they had words that they liked and words they didn't like just because they were presented in a certain color..
I think love was red and so on..
No. I don't buy this story.
No. I don't buy this story. :)
Well it's true Ivan..
Damnit do I have to find that story again..
It's called Synaesthesia
Ivan do you have a nickle to pay me for this story? la la la la =)

Color blind designer...
Yes... I am a colorblind designer. Sounds odd saying that. I too have others check my work just to make sure. I am primarily a web designer so I'm not as worried about shades of colors, PMS or CMYK.
I do think being color blind limits me to a more specific color palette but what can I do. I also used to paint (oils) when I was younger and I always had to ask about certain colors. Oh well, I think I deal with it just fine.
And just to clarify (because I have had people ask), I do and can see in color, it's just certain shades I have trouble with. Color blind is a bad description.

I'm another colorblind
I'm another colorblind designer. Looks like we share the same type of color deficiency, too. My biggest difficulties are with low-light conditions and shades of certain colors. It's always amusing to see the face of people that find out I'm colorblind. On the other hand, like chip said, it can get a little frustrating to explain to people that I do, in fact see colors.
I seem to find myself sticking to a single color and then add different values to it (grays, black & white).
Back on topic, I also did not see the 2 right away. :)
Thanks all for the crits.
Thanks all for the crits. I'll make some options based on the suggestions.
Normally I'm a big fan of your logo work
But this one is most definitely not your best work. The whole thing is one giant cliche. The color won't reproduce in CMYK, and I don't think there is a darker neon green Pantone color (without custom mixing anyway). It's not easily identifiable, even after you know the "2" is there.
To continue the cliche, I can predict right now that if the client chooses this logo, they will surely want the logo on the Web site to have the blocks blink on and off randomly.

Yeah CMYK :/
I thought about the CMYK issue, but I thought it would be fun to use a color nobody uses for practical reasons. I thought it should always be printed with direct glow in the dark paint. Never done it before, but want to try it out. :)
how does this logo look when
how does this logo look when its scaled down? how does it look in black & white?
internet company logos are pretty disposable... i wouldnt spend too much time going crazy over this.
LOL!
I will see what client have to say when he reads this. :)
heh...
Just for kicks you could play a pun on the famous "10 types of people" binary joke and use a pixlated 10 with a caption of 2 bits :D
Not seriously, but kind of fun to think about.
I really do like the overall layout of the logo, although I would just ditch the color entirely for spot/grayscale printing. And I would single the color out as well since the multiple greens to me seem to cause it to lose some of its clean & smooth appeal. You might think about expanding it one colum and adding 2 in front of bit so average consumers see 2bits right away AND you still have your clever falling blocks of 2s.
Just a few thoughts, overall I like it and I saw the 2 right away. cheers.
