Interns?

Where is the best place to search for interns to do some animation work?

I dont have much of a budget [at all] but I need to have something animated. It's more or less a prototype that needs to be completed. This project is to be considered MAJOR for it will be done for a celebrity who is trying to develop some web animations.

Any suggestions on where i can find some one to help me free of charge?

Free of charge? I don't know anyone who will do it for free. Are you doing it for free?

If this is a MAJOR job for a celebrity perhaps they should find it within the budget to pay an animator for their work. As pokie stated, why should someone work for free unless for an organization that actually needs help...such as a youth hostel. Needy celebrities don't really fall into this bracket...well at least with me that is.

An intern is someone who offers their services in exchange for experience learning from those who have been in the business a long time and have a great deal of knowledge to share. It doesn't sound from your description that an intern is what you are looking for.

and many (most?) internships are paid.

this sounds suspiciously like one of those "but you can put it on your resume and it will look really good, even if you don't get paid" kind of deals.

i agree with 3dogmama, if this really is a MAJOR job for some celebrity, then they ought to be willing to pay for it.

+1 on the not doing work for free thing. +1 on an intern not being the right person for this job. Your client needs to fund this project with more than his/her fame.

That being said, I recommend using CraigsList to find suitable candidates. Just don't ask them to work for free.

Let me add to the general chorus of "who do you think you're kidding?" that you're hearing. If you have no budget to do the animation for your "celebrity," I'm thinking maybe he needs to put down his mirror long enough to snap his fingers at an assistant who can fork over more money.
