InThought Logo Concept

Piotr's picture

This is the most recent logo concept for what is going to be my brand. It's called InThought http://www.inthought.ca

I sketch, do a LOT of design work, illustration, etc. I have been playing with the logo for about a year now. This is the one I'm most happy with. The version with the circle around it is the one I had intended on using a few months ago, until tonight. I'm leaning towards the square.
Comments, critiques are encouraged :) Thanks

Dont ignore the fundamentals of Logo Design

Im gonna be honest, I kinda like the name. However, the logo seems a little awkward to me, and doesn't work. I don't think the circle or the square will work as they are represented here either. If you gave me a business card with this logo, I would have thought that you do computer networking stuff. the "IT" throws me off. You need to go back and think about what you want your logo to represent about your work.

-You already know what your logo SHOULD represent (design work, illustration, etc). This logo doesnt say that.

-I like what you did with the blue squares to represent the dot on the "i" and the period, but its seems tacked on to circle and square.

You have a good start though, keep concepting and don't settle for this one.

computer IT

Hi
I agree with designmonkey. It (no pun intended) screams IT to me as well. I would also rethink colour usage--blue and black again are IBM, computer techy to me.

I like the name of your brand, but if you are trying to position yourself as an illustrator and sketch artist foremost then why not illustrate your logo? Show potential clients what you're capable of.

Hey.

I agree that the icon is not working, but it also over powers the type. There isn't good balance between the two elements.

Maybe it's not so much the blue not working as it is the black not working with the blue, which gives us all the 'tech' first impression.

Black and blue are very

Black and blue are very solid, dependable colors (think IBM's logo!) but you want creative and exciting. Maybe orangey reds or some other brighter color.

I do recommend taking all color out of this till you figure it out, and also the web 2.0-y blends you've got going on. Remember your stuff has to print too, not just be seen on the web. Not a bad start though, and neat name!

Looks like they took me to heart here with my 'orange-y red' comment. :)

Wow, lots of comments,

Wow, lots of comments, great! :) thanks for all the input. I've been working so long with this name that I think I lost perspective as to what it's supposed to represent.. me.
Well its back to the art board for me, There will certainly be another post with some new ideas.

This is a great board, thank you all!

Hey, when I did my logo it

Hey, when I did my logo it was the HARDEST thing I've ever done, design wise, so I understand your pain. :)

I'm going to post that logo in crit soon and watch it get torn a new one.

same boat

Any type of work you design for yourself I find is the most difficult. You know that your audience will be judging you a little more critically (even if they don't mean to) as hey...you do this for a living. Your visual identity better be beyond great. It better sing. It better make me want to hire your services.

Recently I've had to recreate myself--come up with a name, design a logo; still need to create a web presence, stationery, etc. so I know the struggle you're facing. Know that you're not alone, and once I figure out how to throw my logo up on the board you can have a go at my creation.
