iPhone 3G - It's ordered and on the way...
I have to say, although I was always going to get one, O2 in the UK have made things so much easier for me.
I pre-registered for information on their website a few days after the WWDC announcement, I got a confirmation email stating I'd hear more closer to the time and to keep an eye out.
This morning at 7:30am GMT I received an email from O2 offering me the chance to place an advance order for the iPhone 3G.
I clicked the link and was taken to the O2 online store where I was able to chose the phone model and tariff (of note; the white model wasn't an option), within 5 minutes I'd chosen my package, paid for the 16GB phone £59 ($120USD approx.), and signed the 18 month £45 per month contract.
The credit check was instant, the whole order process flawless and at the end of the transaction I was informed it would be delivered to my house by courier on 11th July.
That is officially the easiest mobile phone sign up I've ever experienced.
Top marks to O2 for making it easy, I wasn't looking forward to having to go and queue up at an O2 store on Friday.
I'd be interested to see the presale figures. currently the O2 web-store is down so I'm assuming they're being hit hard.
Ahhhh
The first one to sell his soul!
lol
Let us know how it went! :)

Depending on how you look at
Depending on how you look at things it's either a great success or a total cock up...
The O2 shop went off-line between 9 and 10 AM GMT depending on who you ask. My order is processing and awaiting confirmation.
"Allegedly" O2 only meant to contact it's current subscribers so they could upgrade, I don't believe that, but there were reports of the 16GB iPhone having sold out before the store finally went down.
Fingers crossed my order is accepted.
If it goes OK I'll be very impressed, I think O2 grossly underestimated demand, there are reports of ten times the demand when the original iPhone launched last year!
I love your

Well, speaking of iPhone Ive seen the video of Steve Jobs unveiling the new iPhone with the head-to-head video "How do you Compare": Steve Jobs v. Bill

It's here....
I'm in lust already and I've not even finished syncing the thing.

Well, so far so good, it arrived at 08:50 am by courier, I tranferred all the data from my iPod touch after activating, the whole process took about 25 minutes, 99% of which was getting the music and videos on there.
Activation took a matter of seconds and after a call to O2 my old number will be ported to the iPhone by Tuesday.
The sound is brilliant, speakers are moe than adequate for watching movies, I wouldn't want to listen to music on them often but they do the job.
Calls are CRYSTAL clear.
I was amazed just what a difference there was from my Nokia e65.
Everything works great, apart from MobileMe isn't fully live yet, so I'm not getting push email etc.
I am very impressed in the few hours I've had it, battery life could be an issue, it does seem to drain fast, but as it's day one, it usually takes a week or so for a battery to bed in in my experience, I'm not too worried.
Overall all is good in the land of iPhone 3G although annoyingly O2's 3G coverage only seems to be decent on one side of my house, namely in the kitchen which isn't the ideal place to be using the network, but the iPhone does switch flawlessly between 2G and 3G networks on the fly without interrupting anything you're doing.
The GPS seems a little odd so far, it takes quite a while to lock on to satellites, but admittedly I've not really tried it out in the real world yet, I'll give that another go later tonight when I'm going out.
One great thing is the App Store, I'm genuinely impressed and have made a few purchases so far, including the awesome Super Monkeyball game. £5.99 in the UK and it's brilliant, it does take quite a while to get used to the accelerometer controls, I've been playing it almost non stop since I downloaded it, probably what has drained the battery the most to be honest, but it's seriously addictive.
Overall I'm happy, the iPhone 3G was the logical next step from the iPod touch, it's still a bit strange answering my iPod when it rings, but the user experience is great. I also made my mum happy by donating the iPod touch to her. :o)
I'd give it 8/10 if I had to score it on first impressions.
That score may well rise as I use it more, a lot of the issues I have are with 'what if' issues and rumours that may not come to fruition.
I think Apple have aced this one, I expect the 3G to build upon the original iPhone reputation and spread the brand further, although I ordered mine online and was waiting at home for mine, I got calls from a few friends on their way to work saying all the O2 stores had large queues outside and I expect it's sold out nation-wide by now.
I'd highly recommend the iPhone 3G, best phone I've owned, hands down.

just like the touch, make sure your wifi is turned off when you aren't using it. that'll drain the batteries faster than anything.

I was looking for apps from the Apple store and they have an " Order a Designer" app for them. Nothing to write home about, but could have some possibilities...
