Irish Dance

Irish Dance

I made this logo for the Irish Dance championships held in Niagara Falls. My concept was to create the Falls in an Irish Celtic way so that it never ends and just continues like a circle. ??????

Yeah, I'm not feeling the Irish theme here at all.

I like it! It's visually pleasing, but do the falls become the focus instead of the dance? And if you are sticking with the falls, could you make the bottom fade into mist like the real falls do instead of the mirror effect? That part really doesn't fit and ends up looking like fingers. Could you throw some green in there? Just a touch of color. It is dance and should be more fun, than serious. Are you going to put the competition's dates in there? It will be good for nostalgia.

Not feeling the Irish angle either. Using an ethnic-oriented display font is not enough (and that also looks a little cheeseball to me too, btw). Keep the fall idea and use it somewhere down the road.

I like what you're trying to do, however, those falls are not intertwined enough to give it a celtic knot look. Do some more research on celtic knotwork and do a LOT more drawing. You'll get it.

Again, Why are there so MANY logo's with a Apple look, Drop the reflection in the knot and the reflection in the bottom. this is just a photoshop trick.

This also doesn't say Irish to me, the upper font does but Regional champ and the location could be in an other typ. Hard to read now.
Never use gradient in a logo, add some color, like Irish Green.. I like the harplike figure though.

My first reaction to this was that it was a weird combination of Celtic font with the Nazca lines in Peru. Please lose the reflection effects.

Agree with losing the reflections and your falls look like organ pipes.

Have you tried comboing up the dance theme and Falls? Have you tried a Celtic knot with curling waves at the base without coming too close to the logo owned by Fallsview Casino?

Also agree with Art's comment about the font...too kitschy.

thanks a lot guys!

why does everyone have a problem with reflections? it is not used in the actual design, its only for appearence on a computer screen.

I find them distracting and drawing away from the actual design...but that's just my opinion. Some people like them.
