Is it a goe for Adobe yet?

I've been itching to use some of the colours offered in Pantone's Goe System, while working in CS3 files, but unable to find the software update for them. These new palettes are available to me in Quark 7, but not yet Adobe...or has this circumstance changed?

Checked the Pantone website and it appears only Quark has the necessary plug-in.

Thanks, Gloria. Checked there already and a few other spots--met with a wall each time. I guess, for now, Adobe is sticking it out with the palettes they already have in place. For full colour projects it *shouldn't* pose too much of a problem--the RGB equivalents are on the swatches and from there you can convert to other colour modules. However, I'm afraid that the pure vibrancy of the new colours offered will fall flat, and what do you do about the single, two-colour jobbies and other projects that request a colour from this new palette...design everything in Quark?

Aha...I smell a Quarkspiracy!

Here is a more detail look at Pantone Goe System. You can always purchase myPantonePalettes Software from Pantone as a work around in CS3. I don't think it's a Quarkspiracy at all. I do think it's Pantone's way of refreshing their line of products and creating another system you need to buy.

Adobe hasn't added it to CS3 yet because:
A) CS3 was out before Goe
B) Only a small handful of designers/ad agencies use Goe
C) Virtually no printers use Goe yet
D) In the U.S. economy anyway, nobody can afford to print anything

OK, "D" was a bit of a stretch, but I thought I would toss it in there.

is shooting the new system in the foot. it's a much broader color system (2000 possible colors instead of 1400) with a wider gamut (according the the xrite color seminar i went to this week). to not ensure it works natively with the biggest elephant in the room, while having a plugin for the former big guy (now second fiddle), just sounds like poor business planning.

Gripes last year about the Goe system:
http://printceoblog.com/2007/09/pantone-adobe

Pantone stressed that Goe is not a replacement for the Pantone Matching System.

Hadn't read the "Gripes" article, but did wonder about the mixes for the printers. My guys are really going to *LOVE* this system...I can hear the bitching already.

Makes 100% sense what Jim said about CS3 being out prior to GOE, but still, surely Adobe must have known this system, which was three years in the making, was coming down the tubes? No excuses when, as GWells pointed out, the second fiddle has already supplied the plugin for it.

I'm wondering if Adobe is sitting back to see how readily the GOE system is accepted by designers and in turn their suppliers.

Here's hoping.

I hate when companies do this: float some buzz on the wind, then wait to see if anybody sets up a proper howl for more before commiting to a new product.

Agreed. It seems like we're all too risk averse to take many chances these days.
