Is my work good enough??

I am moving to Los Angeles in about four weeks and I am putting out some of my work on http://www.coroflot.com/kbrody
I just want to know if its good enough or too much. I haven't got any responses back on resumes I have sent out, so I come to this board for help. Is there something i should add? Any criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Your work is pretty good! Unfortunately your resume is VERY hard to read and makes it look like you've only worked at two companies for a very short time.

You need to target the job you want and tailor your resume to that. For example, the last job, Manager/Receptionist really isn't going to turn any heads; try to highlight all the creative work you have done and leave that job out.

Get "Packaging Yourself: The Targeted Resume" and read it cover to cover (I bought it for $6 at a bookstore and it was the best $6 I've ever spent!) It tells you how to rejig your resume so it's less of an obituary (where i've been) and more of a success story.

I love your work, especially the letterhead/business card set, actually. You have a fresh style, and I don't think you'll have any problem with your portfolio getting "Wows".

I think I agree with Natobasso, in that the problem is with your resume. It's not very well organized, and I think that emphasizing your design work and some of the responsiblities you carried out everyday will fix that. I know with my resume I listed the job, my title, and bullet points of responsibilities and accomplishments. That's not for everyone, but it works for me.

Also, I don't know if you're attached to this portfolio server, but it doesn't really express who you are. It might be better if you designed your own website if possible, or get some friends to help code your design. That way the first thing a possible client or employer will see as your identity, rather than Coroflots. Also, it will make it seem like you are less pressed for a job.

I can help with web stuff if you need it, just shoot me an email at seraphim [at] perfectlylost.com.

Hope this helps!

So much for all the great input. I was freaking out that it was my design. I can really work my resume to make it more "WOW". I think that I might contact you seraphim for the web help... I am lost when it comes to html.

Glad to help. Also, one other thing I noticed about the resume is your education is listed at the very bottom. I think it's super impressive that you went to Arts Institute, and it looks so great on a design resume. I would push it up and make it stand out, including what you studied - it would definitely bold the fact that you know your stuff. :)

To list illustration, I never considered myself an illustrator but I have done a lot, now that I think of it. I will add that to my list of skills. This is great, all the feed back you guys are giving me. Thanks again!
