It's published but my team hate it.

Here is the inspiration for the design.
"The design is hand drawn. It symbolizes the network that Nature's Nexus has become, as well as the fact that we are all one (the single thread of the dream catcher), the circle of life and the things that dreams are made of. Dreaming of making the Earth a better place for everyone is a dream that can become a reality, with enough love and sharing and never losing sight of that vision. We can all do our part and reach out to others and connect across the world."
Is it really awful?

I believe it may be the wrong approach to make such a geometric symbol free hand. I would either build it with a computer or go a completely different route and make a free flowing, more abstract symbol by hand. The way it presents now is a bit unprofessional. There is nothing wrong with creating a logo without the aide of a computer but trying to imitate what can be done accurately by digital means can be a mistake. I am not wild about the typeface but I guess it says nature in a medieval times sort of way. You could try to use Scriptina font like is used in the Orchid ad on your site-that is a hit or miss font though. You can find it free on the web. Overall - good concept.
Thanks for not being too hard on it. And I agree with everything you say.
I spend the day doing something new. I also took the angle of the fact that the website I am doing the design for is actually a magazine so it needs more of a banner than a logo. So I'll upload what I did shall I? I hand drew each letter. Got my inspiration from this website. : ) thank you.

The font is Herculanum, gents.

I hand drew each of these letters: http://creativebits.org/my_solution
And yes the font is Herculanum of the piece I posted for critique above.
I agree that the new one doesn't suit the look of the site as folks here are saying but the only problem now is that my team are in love with the new one. The one with the hand drawn lettering.
So there's no going back. Thanks all for your help!

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think your team is being a bit schizophrenic about their feelings about the logo. You're the boss -- what else are they going to do but go along with you?
Remember, this logo you've created isn't carved into priceless marble. It's done on the web; a very flexible medium.
I say get a creative brief together and get that team working for you. Remember, just because you own the business doesn't mean you have to do everything. In fact, you shouldn't!
I hope there's more to this story, yet?

Thank you for your observations and advice Natobasso lol-- I'm still learning how to manage my team.

This time I'll have to disagree with Nato. What type of creative are you going to receive by treating people in this manner? The iron-fist form of leading should be left to the drill sarges of the world, not leading a team of designers.
And isn't that why you have a team of creatives....to build and form a strong collective. Be open to others' comments and ideas as their thoughts may be the missing link in some of your projects. Brandishing the whip and forcing square pegs into round holes is not the route to take. If anyone treated me like that and told me that it was this way or the highway, I wouldn't be there long if at all.

I don't see us as disagreeing?
I guess I didn't clearly state that I think the team NEEDS to be involved in the process BEFORE the logo gets posted and you ask for their opinion. They will be frustrated, long-term, if that's the way things work in your office.

Hi Dogma,
My team are not "creative". They handle other things. I handle the design.
Yes I should have given them forewarning that a change was coming but, it would be impossible to involve them in the actual design process. I mean one of the might suggest comic sans for the typeface! Seriously. I changed what they didn't like and made something they do like but unless they are designers or creatives...well
I'll say it again, they are not a DESIGN team. I don't have one...it's just me.

Hi Uth,
Them not being designers/creatives, shouldn't automatically rule out their thoughts during the branding process. As Nato stated above, involve all from the onset. It makes for a smoother process.

I guess you are right about the branding process, and I do involve them in that, to a degree. The only thing I would find difficult is consulting them during the design process, by this I mean, choice of typeface, colors, etc. I agree with who said 'design by committee never works'. I pissed them off my not giving them a heads up. I've learned my lesson.
