iTunes/LaCie oddity
I keep all my music on an external LaCie Firewire hard-disk. I've never experienced any problems with it. Recently the disk got filled to the brim with various film projects, so I purchased a second disk to use exclusively for my film projects. I moved all the film files over to the disk and left my music on the older LaCie disk. Since having done this, when playing music in iTunes from time to time songs will stop playing and iTunes tends to freeze up. The disk is still working properly and I can search through it in Finder. However I'm forced to "Force Quit" iTunes and restart it.
Anyone know if I should be worried? Is this a sign that my disk is heading towards retirement? Or is it maybe a problem with the songs having to travel farther to reach the computer? I have it set up so the Scratch Disk (the one with my film files) leads into the computer, and the Shared Disk (the one with my music) is plugged into the Scratch Disk.
Any thoughts or advice are appreciated.
