Javascript Courses

Hi All,

I am looking for some advice on online Javascript courses. I have been meaning to start some e-learning for a while but have been far too busy.

I was trying to decide what would be best to study, and on the basis that I now subcontract php/mySQL work to a friend of mine I think I should get stuck into javascript with the aim of forming a foundation to move on and learn XML and hopefully be able then to apply all of this to AJAX functionality for sites.

Ideally if a course came with some sort of accreditation that would be great, but it is not a major concern for me.

What is a major concern is that any course I do would lean towards the web standards approach on things, I have totally gone for the good semantics & accesible design route, I think without a doubt it is the way forward.

If anyone has any recommendations on a course I would love to hear them. I have been looking around on the web and there are a huge number of courses on offer, it's hard to pick one out of the crowd. I know I could probably teach myself but I think I need some guided learning - knowing that I have paid for something will result in me being more likely to finish it!

Regards,

Alex

This one is ok, but if you want a better one than you are probably going to have to pay. Training Tools

that would be something i could obviously try and get stuck into, but I think I'm definitely looking for something with a defined structure and possibly even some sort of testing (and during) the course towards a certification - maybe even with some form of course tutor, someone I can ask questions of related to the course.

Well, I've done a bit of thinking and it occurred to me that I should check out Sun Microsystems. Of course they do training in Java J2SE.

Obviously this is a different kettle of fish to javascript, but i figure it will probably give me a very good grounding in the fundamentals of programming as a whole.

The course is 2 parts, the first part:
http://uk.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/WJB-110A.xml
costs £190

the second part:
http://uk.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/WJTB-310.xml
costs £75

Finally an exam can be taken to gain certification:
http://uk.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-019.xml
and this costs £70

If anyone has any horror stories before i register, please let me know! I think I will start the course in the new year.
