It's looking more refined, but the logo placement still feels akward and too big for the page. I would combine the type logo and the bird together and bring them to the left. I think your heiracy needs to be worked on a bit. I don't really know where to look first, my eye moves all around the page - probably not in the way you want it to.
Also, I have to say. No flash. If you want to do better in the search engines and feel more accessible to the viewer - flash is not the way to go.
Very nice, a big improvement! I agree that the logo (the "jhouse" not the bird) is too big and strangely positioned.
There's really no reason for this site to be in Flash. -maybe- just the portfolio bit could be in Flash, but the top half has absolutely no reason to be in Flash, and honestly I would favor Javascript for the portfolio as well.
Yea the portfolio is gonna be scrolling so I guess only that bit needs to be in flash.
I think you're both right. I'll work on the top banner some more, and work out what to do with the logo.
I think you're overreacting just a tad. If the entire website is flash then, yes, that's too much. If the image/portfolio functionality is the only thing that's flash, not so big a worry.
A website's popularity is measured, in part, by a convergence between links to other sites, links from other sites, and content as it relates to keywords most commonly used (and that mysterious "algorithm" that's making Google oodles of money!)
As long as there are h1, h2, h3 tags, meta data, an xml file and robots.txt file, a little flash isn't going to kill your web ranking. In fact, it may make viewing these photo samples easier, thereby improving a site's ranking. Usability and content bring users back.
There is yet another way to view images, it's called Lightbox. Great free javascript; you wouldn't have to use flash at all if you used that, jhouse.

I don't see why to "avoid Flash at all costs" but I just don't see a reason for it here. It has its place, but only when nothing else can do the trick.
Anyway, Google can read the text in Flash, but that's it. It has no idea what are headlines, what are captions, can't even see the images.... There aren't semantics with Flash. So even though it can at least SEE it now, all-flash sites still result in poor rankings.

Could be the size, or even that pesky message you get when you're on a PC with no Flash Plug in installed and you can't install it cause you're not the admin...or worse, you KNOW you have the most updated version, but STILL can't see some flash content...
1) Sized JHouse Logo to 60% of its current size and moved it flush left with the body content.
2) Sized Bird Icon to 80% of current size and placed it next to the Jhouse logo
3) Sized the "taking new projects" button to 90% of current size and flushed it right with the tabs below. (I might even go smaller than that, IMO)
4) Moved the entire banner and content sections up to meet up with the newly placed logo and projects button
5) Flushed the buttons for the portfolio sample images left and right and centered all the portfolio content.
6) Centered the bottom content.
I also think that you should move your photo flush left and have the "about Jack" text to the right of it, but I didn't have the time to do that.
This is a little rough due to time constraints, but hopefully you will see some good changes.
Sorry to be so brief, but I only have a few minutes to kill. I am waiting on a client who will be here in just a minute. Let me know what you think, I will be back by later on...
I suppose. You looking for some type of design credit? I figure it was pretty obvious what needed to happen and I just mocked it up for him to visualize.
Two things.
It's looking more refined, but the logo placement still feels akward and too big for the page. I would combine the type logo and the bird together and bring them to the left. Overall it's good.
I agree about the logo issue, it's too sparsely laid out.
Overall it's a nice clean design though.
Just enough to make me want to click through but not over cluttered.
Well done.

I am pretty sure that you can do your scrolling in another type of code. Something like jquery, but that's not really my area.
I would avoid flash at all costs.

Hope you don't mind, but I took your comp and rearranged it a bit to illustrate my suggestions. Here is what I would do:
Link to image with changes: http://www.vtdonline.com/random/SiteBlue2.jpg
1) Sized JHouse Logo to 60% of its current size and moved it flush left with the body content.
2) Sized Bird Icon to 80% of current size and placed it next to the Jhouse logo
