I'm a visual kind of guy so therefore I like to see examples instead of explanations. here's a few sites I found with some great examples (and explanations):
http://www.aware.com/products/compression/jpeg2000.html

Looks very powerful with its 'wavelet-based compression'. It would be great to replace tiffs with its lossless compression option, but breaking the habit would be another challenge.

As far as I know Jpeg 2000 was developed by the Joint Photographic Experts Group!

Very interesting subject cbrophy78. If I understand right, this is like a dream come true. Have you seen those highly compressed images? They looked quite ok even at those tiny sizes.
Anybody knows if browser support is on the way?
I think the jpg format evolving to jp2 is similar to the mp3 format. There are way better compression technologies than the ten year old music format, but it still continues to thrive. If photoshop natively supported jp2, it would really help jump start this great new format.

Pre-pathed images are dope. At my old job we used a JPG2000 Stock photography company, and the pre-pathed images saved us countless hours.
