Killbridge Website
I'm designing a website for my "company" and because of the great feedback I got on my logo, it seemed like a good idea to post my website design here too.
I want the website to be simple, yet professional looking.. I also want the language to be simple because most of my clients will be Dutch and not everybody is that good in English (maybe I will create a Dutch version too).
When you visit the website, you will see the image I uploaded, with the logo in the center.. when the visitor clicks one of the 3 buttons (about, work or contact) the logo will be replaced by the page's content. And I will probaby put a smaller logo somewhere above the content.
I uploaded two files.. one with an orange "hover state" of a button, and one with a gray "hover state". I'm not sure what I should choose and which color.
Any comments/critique is greatly appreciated!
Sorry about the long text :)

Nice to see your porti in
Nice to see your porti in development stage by stage. Now that your cool logo is cleared we move on to the the basic layout.
I feel that the navigation is fighting the logo. The logo is neat and small and than you have those huge buttons. Maybe it's just me, but I see those words underlined a bit cluncky. Can you not try to use icons instead of words for navigation? That might be cool if it's in a similar style as the logo.
Not sure if I helped. Good luck and hope to see the next stage.

I like the simplicity of the links and sections of your website (identical to mine, actually) That's okay though. :c) I do think that Ivan has a point about the logo and navigation "fighting" eachother. I think that the "bubble" is also a distraction, although cool.
One think I'd change is the rounded corners... Your logo has sharp clean edges, and that clashes with the curved links and bubble. I'd either make the white logo box rounded or loose the rounded edges. (maybe even just make them smaller?)
I like your logo BTW, missed the crit for that but I like it!! Good job!

I like the large amount of black you are using. It reminds me of blank gallery walls, but black instead of white. :)
I do agree with getting rid of the underlines on the nav buttons. Also, I am curious exactly why the comic strip bubble is there to tell you that navigation is below. It is very obvious where your navigation is. It seems as if it is something that is not needed and it detracts from that great black background I mentioned.
I would also consider the rounded corners as well. Hope I was atleast a little bit of help.

I almost forgot...
Definitely go with the orange on the buttons. It adds that little bit extra to make the site "pritty."

Looking nice so far .....
Couple of questions
- The orange button, is that going to be for rollover or would the orange be visible when you've chosen a page?
- On your screenshot you have a nice thick white border, will this be on the actual site surrounding and being surrounded the black background (content then border then more black background) ?
I agree about losing the underline, and also I agree about telling someone that a navigation is, users are not as stupid as we think ;) ;) .
I like the speech bubble, and feel it would be a good element throughout the site if the bubbles content changes on various areas of the site.
Its looking great, I love your logo
Thanks for all the
Thanks for all the suggestions! Creativebits rock! :)
I will get rid of the underlines. And I will straigten the corners of the buttons. The colored button is the rollover-state. I haven't really thought of the 'current'-state. I think I will put the content in a big text-balloon and point that angle/arrow/thing to the correct button.. I will upload a pic to make it more clear. I guess I should remove the text-balloon on the page I uploaded.. (including the text-content). The white border would we on the site. It won't be surrounded.
@Greg,
I now see I use the same words like you do. I wanted to use 'about, 'portfolio' and 'contact', but I didn't like the P of portfolio (an underlined P doesn't look good). I must have unconsciously used your words. If it's a problem, I will change it.
No no no! It's fine! Keep
No no no! It's fine! Keep the words, I really like them. I don't mind a bit. :c) I was going to use Portfolio also but didn't like it and I plan to detail the "work" i do in the section, not only show examples of what I have done.
