Kratu.com :: the Art of India
kratu (72 pencils) | Wed, 2005-09-21 14:23This is the second in the 'Art of India' project. A taste of things to come! ...It's exciting to combine the urban style with the eastern art forms.
What's your opinion? I'm more interested to know the opinions sorrounding the illustration, not just the technicalities ... since it's in the stage of exploration ... I guess it's interesting to the western world. :)

The left illustration/image is simply beutiful but the rest in the page is ugly..
Simple as that :) Go on the blue/green color..
Nice work anyway =)
Is there more to this than we are seeing?
Surely if it's about Indian Typography surely you should be using more recognisable scripts? maybe translations of the copy into Indian Dialects.
It just seems a bit bizarre to me that a poster purporting to be about type only has some random Hindi characters used as Illustration, not my idea of typography.
I do like the illustration on the left though, very nice.

Mijlee, It's not about typography (may be I should lose the word typoGRAPHY) it's all about the diversity of scripts which infact comes from almost one source, Sanskrit.
By the 'left illustration', do you guys mean the dance figure or the entire column?
I need more explanation on this. What exactly is looking ugly?
I feel I can do something with the top portion. may be remove/replace ... what say?
BTW You can see the first illustration of this project in the previous page of this critique section.

I meant the entire left column..
The top looks awful, just grey and ooh I don't think it fits there at all..
I like it, but I feel it's a bit too monotonous compared to your previous work, where you had a lot going on... Maybe some bigger letters showcasing the beautiful letterforms would be nice too. Thanks for sharing.
Tigerstorm, thanks for that, it cleared off somethings ... well, that says that the top and the left aren't being harmonious. May be, as I've said earlier, I've to remove/repace the top portion with something else. Time for more urban style :)
Ivan, yeah I agree that it's monochromatic and not very colourful. Since, I am talking about only one thing i.e., the language, may be it will do ... and yeah I need to better express the beauty of the form of scripts in different languages.
