Lashout Cosmetics V.2

First thanks to those who offered feedback on the original version of this website.

I'm still working on it, but would appreciate feedback on the current stage. The main issue people seemed to have with the site was that the testimonials had too much emphasis/real estate. I've addressed that and included a slide show preview on the main page. I do feel however the column width of the main paragraph is too wide. Perhaps it should be 2 columns?

Tabs haven't changed, I'm still playing with that.

Thanks all

I did change the font on the tabs to match the serif font in the logo. Of course there has to be a minimum of 3 fonts since the 2 fonts in the logo aren't exactly standard for web. I also like to have a serif and non-serif for contrast. I suppose I could make the serifs images, but I don't think I'm ready to do that.

Thank you for the observation :)

i must say i very much dislike justified text on the web. it's too difficult to control the rivers of white and it's causing some pretty bad word spacing in the main text.

one of the downsides of red (and magenta-ish shades of red, in particular) is that screens come across very pink. so your photo borders and the inactive tabs are in a shade of pink that isn't very attractive (imnsvho). your three shades of red just don't quite come across as complimentary (analogous?) to me.

what are all of the dingbats after the subheading in the white text box for?

i would make the styling of the text in the quotes different from the styling of the name of the person quoted. since i generally don't like longer blocks of text in all italics, i would change the quote to be a regular sans serif, then let the name be italic serif.

i know you said you hadn't worked on the tabs, but you need to do that before you resubmit. they're very distracting. both because they're just too big (both physical size and font size) but, for me at least, i don't see a reason for the initial caps. made even more distracting by the fact that it's not an actual initial caps font, but the fake initial caps. which means the strokes on the full size capital letters is much heavier than the stroke on the fake small caps.

your top white box is just a tiny bit wider than the lower pink box with the photos in it. and it's a bit off-center, too, so it looks even more off.

Thank you gwells for the in-depth critique. I do appreciate it.

I'll try a left-aligned text.

The coloring is intentionally pink. I do kind of like the pink and red for this.

You're right, the dingbats aren't really necessary.

I'll probably change the quotes, since the italic isn't nearly as smooth when I view it on a non-Mac.

You're absolutely right about the small-caps. The font I have is the small-caps set, but I didn't realize that the small-caps option was selected in Photoshop, thus creating a "fake small caps".

I'll resize the top white box. That's the thing I've been having the most difficulty with using CSS - the positioning of elements and trying to get everything to line up the same in every browser.

Thanks, you made a lot of good points.
