Letter Block

This was created for a friends wedding. It is a monogram of sorts, letters C & J (bride and grooms first initials) forming an 'S', the first initial of their new last name.

I've distressed it a bit, to mimic the look of a lino cut. (I'll be creating that based on my final concept) wanted to create a lasting, memorable symbol to be used through out all aspects of the wedding... From the save the date card, right up till the parting gifts at the wedding. (also wanted something easy to carve).

It will be printed no larger than half an inch, and usually smaller.

Good stuff: The emblem is very nice. I think it could look exquisite on wedding related collateral. Nice color as well.

Bad stuff: If it is going to be no larger than a half inch, then you are more than likely going to have to "distress" it more so the distress is actually evident. In the small version, you can't even see the roughness, except for the notches out of the "c" which in all honesty, just makes it look like a bad vactor drawing.

My fault,

I should have stressed that this is just a preview. I'm actually going to do a lino cut for this. I distressed it just a bit to see if it could hold up. But to your point perhaps I should distress it more... if nothing else just to see if it can handle it.

thanks for the quick feedback.

Perfect for a wedding the way the two characters are joined. Much like a 'chop' used as a signature or seal. Is this your friend's wedding gift? They should be honored. A large digital print should find a way into their home. :)

I really like the idea, the form and, actually, the color you presented in. Don't feel that purposely distressing it is necessary. Beautiful idea. Great work.

I like it a lot, with one caveat: it also looks like a 'G'. Not sure how you could get around that though....

thanks, for the positive feedback...
A very nice welcome for me here at creativebits.

Balazs, no site to speak of yet. My client deadlines have taken a precedent over my personal deadlines. (Not an entirely bad thing). And when I'm not on client work, I've got a backlog of friends and family who need things. One day I hope to have a site to call home.

(by the way, I'm looking for a talented web programmer with good design sense)

I'm sure I'll be posting more in the future.
