Gmail has undoubtedly the best webmail interface by far. The scroll wheel on your mouse can do more than scroll an InDesign page up and down.

You can also hold down the Shift key down while you turn the wheel to scroll to the left or right. And if you hold down the Command/Ctrl key, InDesign will zoom in and out on your page, focusing on the spot where your cursor is.

Aqua Blue.jpg is the default image that is loaded for the login page. If you have spotlight you can just start typing the name to find it on your system, but actually it's under your root/ Library/ Desktop Pictures. You should rename this file to keep a backup of it and save your new desktop image into this folder with the name Aqua Blue.jpg.

Filling big bold type with an image can be a useful technique to inject some life into a boring title. Here is how to do it effectively, so that the type and the image both remain editable.

Put the image above the type layer. Select the image layer and press Apple-G (Cmd-G) or select the Layer/ Create Clipping mask menupoint.

This is a very stupid feature but still neat. Use get info on a .psd file in OSX Tiger and look at the More info box. It will list every single Layer and layer name ! XD

If you have to switch visibility or linking in PhotoShop you would click the eye or the chain icon left to the layer. But what if you have to do this to 30 different items? Are you gonna click them one by one? You guessed right - no.

Let's say your object is larger than your canvas and some of its parts are not visible.

If you want to quickly have an understanding of how big the object is you can press Apple(Cmd)-T to access the Free Transform tool, which shows you the boundaries of your object even outside of the canvas area. Then just hit ESC to abort the operation. This is much quicker than moving the object back and forth.
