Lingo Voyager Translator Ad 3

trying to finish some project for the portfolio night this spring,

in this assignment we were supposed to create a full page magazine ad for a handheld multi language translator by Lingo.
this is a second attempt (concept wise). based on the theme "being confused with everyday things":

sorry my polish friends for making fun of you ;), in US i don't know why, by stereotypically polish people are not considered to be very smart, so this is not my take on it, but a way to bring a message across to the north american audience using humor.

also in this ad and previous two i have updated the info on the actual translator window.

any comments and suggestions are welcomed

I like the previous "same team" version. (actuall I like it a lot)

I don't understand this version, also "Polland" ? Do you mean Poland? Seriously asking, because I am confused by the whole thing.

wow, i've made a big one, shame on me, it is Poland ;)

hmmm....Maybe you shouldn't be throwing stones.

Like i said, I love the LOOK of the design, but any company would be foolish to print it.
Better to rethink this one.

(i hope your professor's mother isn't a Pole.)

Maybe I'm not such a dumb Pole after all ! ;)

i don't get it!

I love the simplicity. it reallly works. What doesn't work for me is pushing stereotypes to get out an idea. But, I don't see that either.

Nice job visually, though.

I don't get it, and I also don't understand how it advertises the Lingo Voyager Translator. Your layout (as well as in the previous two you submitted) is very nice but the content just isn't clear enough.

Why are the parking lanes confused?

This ad doesn't work at all.

I had to read everyone's comments to figure it out.
Aside from being vague, it's not accurate.

How would the Lingo help in this situation?

Also poor image choice. The cars don't look very european,
and the crop is very uncomfortable (see top left).

I did like your previous ad with the restrooms.
Perhaps you could show a plethora of parking signs in Polish?

Can you tell us what the new message on the Voyager is? I think it says "Where I can find parking meters around here?

Better stated, "Where can I find a parking spot around here?"

Something keeps striking a cord with this series of ads... What questions would I have if I were visiting another country where I didn't speak the language.

"How do I get to ...?"
"Where can I find ...?"

The Voyager appears to be the common persons answer to missing all of the foriegn language classes in college. Older Americans for the most part never grew up learning a second language. These are the people that now want to travel the world.

"Do you know Russian? The Voyager does."
"Do you know German? The Voyager does."
"Do you know French? The Voyager does."

but i think it could use some work. the first fear is offending your Polish demographic (how many Poles are out there reading this? heh) But i think you could go about it with confusing street signs instead. I know when i was living in Montreal, my old appartment was on a street that i could leave a note on my dashboard for the parking inspector saying "i'm obeying the 3rd sign on the 4th pole" then a few hours later i'd change it instead of moving the car and it would say "i'm obeying the first sign on the 3rd pole". I always wondered what a person did when they couldn't read the french signs.

with that said... if someone from Poland is a Pole, why isn't someone from Holland a Hole?

Great story. I was going to visit Montreal and now i know how to get one over on the man...er...uh...i took french in high school but, how do you say 'man'?

Better still, why is a Hollander 'dutch' and a German from 'deutschland'?

Visually uninteresting, bad font, and stereotyping is a poor choice in concept. If you're going to be politically incorrect, at least make me laugh.

...shame about the concept.
