Im not liking the ached type at all. Also the type in your name looks really distorted. You need to think more about how you are using the type. This isn't working at all.
The words around the mark are too light and aren't grounded- they look like they're going to float away! I think the black/white/red scheme is a little too bold and isn't a combination I associate with a designer. I like the simplicity of the mark but I'd lose the white stroke. Is there any concepts that speaks about you as a designer? Something with a concept behind it? Don't play it safe- explore explore explore!!
The arched type looks like something out of WordArt. Not good. I think you can do something more with the MS mark, though. I agree with aroberts - I like the simplicity of it. Play more with the position of the initials - overlap, joins, etc.

If so, I'd say this one is an improvement over that "Jimmy John's" one....
Unfortunately a logo that works for a restaurant doesn't necessarily work for a graphic designer.
