logo for an advanced dieting system

The brief was basically a zippy typographical logo. The diet is involves scientific research to establish which foods one should avoid in order to lose weight and have more energy.

I don't know. I feel like I'm looking at something from the '80's here. There is no life to the design at all. It looks like something that you can cook up in seconds. Maybe a more stylish font may help if you want to keep the same design structure, otherwise I would explore other concepts.

Thanks so much! I had really serious doubts about it and even though it didn't take seconds I know what you mean. Thanks a lot for your help.

it looks like you have manually compressed the type vertically. the whole thing looks squished.

honestly, have to agree with ace. it looks like something done very quickly and without much thought. there's no actual "concept" here. what do you feel like you accomplished with this logo? what should it be saying to us? why those colors? why that font? why the elongated "T"? why italics?

you should be doing all of these things for a reason and most, if not all, of those reasons should be to accomplish a goal. and that goal should be related to your concept.

well there was actually thought put in to it. The fact you can't see that indicates it is crap. Here is the thoughts I had. The colours, red and blue, red for the blood test that gives the results and then the diet is built around those results, the business is about nutrition and diet, and the blue to suppress or control the appetite in certain areas only which is what the whole science of the business is about. Like just having the blue around the first part of the logo, the word nutron which is the bit that's about nutrition and then the blue on it's own for the diet part. The font itself I chose because it has a thick side and then a thin side like fat to thin idea. Then the italics and the extra skew I put on one word and took off the other I thought gave it a zippy look and then the two word support each other and the N and the A are parallel. The T is like the table top, where we eat, t for table...jesus sounds like BS but I am really being sincere.
Thanks

This "concept" exists all over the place on low-end businesses dating back even farther than the 80s. It's really cheesy. Sorry.

Sell the sizzle, not the steak. In that case, that might mean suggesting a toned and lean body with a few strokes rather than trying to make a blah typeface look energetic. You can still have it be a typographic logo, but you can have one of the letters be that body bit. Perhaps the T could be a sinuous down-stroke for the torso, and a nice left-to-right stroke for the arms, with a head above.

Another reboot.

No reason to even critique this imo, but I'll offer a little basic design advice - never use stroked text. It's not impressive in any way and computer graphics programs do not create stroked text properly so it's graphically wrong as well.

Art D. Thank you for the design advice. believe me there is a reason, I have a lot to learn (duh)

Frankly speaking i like your thoughts that you had put into it but they did not seem to come out of that logo. You need to make some little modification (sorry i am not a designer so cannot really tell you the exact modifications) to come up with the thought.
