Logo Comps for a Professional Chef

Here is a logo I am working on for a professional Chef. Trying to keep it upscale and not sway towards any particular type of food. I am still working on a couple more designs but thought I would throw this one out to see if it is a viable idea. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

Top left with the gold and red if he's a top upscale chef, the bottom right to me looks like a cup of coffee (although I could see it being a spoon as well). Is this his initials? They're actually pretty suitable as a logo.

The tail of the L that leads off however I'd be tempted to use a bit of varying thickness on as if the utensil trailed off. Varying line weights may help a lot everywhere, actually.

I think this is a very nice, strong start. I'm bothered by the proportion of mark to typography. It works the least for me in the bottom left, the typography is too close to the style of the mark.

Top left man, but with the swirl of the bottom right. I love it. Doesn't need to be read, it can be seen as a signature, which more often than not you can't read anyways.

Definitely not the bottom ones, the right one looks like india writing.

Something between the mark and the type isn't working for me. I don't feel they blend well together, and I think it might be the lightness of the font you have chosen for the bottom. I'm also not in love with any of those color combos. I would leave it in black and white for now, focus on the proportion of the mark to the type, and figure out what sans-serif is going to work best in terms of weight, shape, and how condensed the font is.

The overly tracked look always looks bad IMHO.

I like the swirl you added on the bottom right, but I like the "CRL" much better on the top two. I don't like the font underneath the CRL on the bottom left one; it looks too much like the mark and they compete with each other.

I really like how the initials look like a spoon. Neat idea. :-)

The signature kinda looks like sperm when reduced...
