Logo Design

liske's picture

Here is a logo for a construction company that focusses on very high end residential estates and wineries.

This is an upgrade / evolution of an existing logo, being that the oval and red center must be preserved to transition existing brand recognition.

Please let me know what you think. All constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome.

Variation Number 2

Not sure why, as there are bits of each logo that make me think "I wonder how it would look with the stars in he black text version, but with the font used in the white versions"

- Variation two for me, but would also like to see this with black text/stars as another variation :)

Good job

I really like Variation 2. I think black against that darker red makes slightly harder to read.

Logo 2 looks great

At first I thought these logos don't match to a construction company but then I read about the wineries. Logo 2 pops really out. I'm afraid if you change the red it will change everything.
Is there a specific reason why the line "Construction Company Inc.," isn't centered on the black border like in the other versions?

Clarification

By the way, these were done through a consulting contract.

Jammo, I will try that. I agree that the white pops more on version 2 Gina.

Martin, as far as the matching issue, I agree, it looks more like a beer or beverage label at the top of a bottle. On a truck it looks a little different though and a bit more appropriate. I still think something a bit more modern in shape and style might suit them better, but they want to keep the "red dot" feel. Perhaps I can talk them into a "red square"

Thanks for the feedback so far. I will try to post that additional.

Quick Reply

Make sure you watch out for the placement of your type within your logo, you've got some placed dangerously close to the edges and are creating eye tension in places that don't warrent it.

Looks nice

Looks nice, but it reminds me of a "beer-bottle-sticker" :D

v2 to me is best but still

v2 to me is best but still needs some work.
I would beef the red up a bit with very a slight gradient/ lighting effect in a kind of UPS logo way - http://www.service-verlag-fischer.de/sw_logos/ups-logo.gif
I think it would add some butchness to the logo, (after all construction is butch!), but not as much as UPS as you still want to primarily keep the wine label look.

A couple things: Great job

A couple things:

Great job on insinuating the winery logo; that's what I initially thought before even reading your logo description!

However, some things to consider:

1. Try the logo in black and white first -- take color out of it completely.

2. Will your logo work in any medium, from web to the side of a truck? I don't see your logo being very visible at either extreme

3. Try to separate the company name from the logo icon. Make them two seaparate entities and I'd say stay away from wrapping the text around the icon.
