Logo Design for Startup Multimedia

Hello, first time on this site and would love to have my logo critiqued. Basically, this is a logo designed for a startup multimedia firm based in NY headed up by 3 guys. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I think the red dot on Creative isn't necessary. In general the problem is that it says nothing to me. I can even decide what industry you're in. The 3 blocks are too generic. With time it will grow on people, but if this is a startup you may want to spend a bit more time on a logo that stands for something. Also the centralized layout is a bit static. Try to move the blocks either to the right or the left to break this symmetry a bit and making the logo a bit more dynamic.

Far from not conveying a message It suggests to me a forward thinking innovative creative company that isn't all about fancy trends.

The only quibble is that it's a logo that many other people will have similar versions of and while this proves it's a classic design it won't make it unique or special.

I think the juxtaposition of the three blocks needs to be worked on. Maybe make it more arbitrary??? Like Ivan suggested, it's almost TOO balanced.

Secondly, I'm not liking the typography too much. Although, I do love the loop of the lowercase "g," but that's really it. Maybe try it in all lowercase???

My only gripe with it is to me, the word Creative conveys all sorts of possibilities, so yes, it does say design, etc. But, and this is a big but—you see this sort of illustrative design with computer/software companies. It's almost too corporate. I think the idea behind having a creative company/ad agency is to be a bit more free and funky. Not too funky to only appeal to a younger demographic, but something a lot more innovative.

I hope this doesn't confuse. :-D

Thank You all for the input.

plugz has it said quite well. "a forward thinking innovative creative company that isn't all about fancy trends." You hit it right on with that statement.

As for the other critiques your absolutely right about the positioning of the 3 blocks. Actually, when I designed the business cards one one side was the logotype and the other side the 3 blocks logo. It does appear to work well that way as opposed to what is posted now.

Thanks again guys and this site rocks!

I think the logo is very clean and pretty striking. My only real comment would be to perhaps separate the two. I can see how it would look awkward before the text. On the other hand, if you moved it after the text you would get a phallic looking identity. Since the the 3 red clusters are repeated again in the actual logotype, you might want to consider just using the text OR the cluster. For example use the cluster as the company 'calling card' or 'signature' on web/print projects?

So.... this is a "creative" company? And yet they've hired you to come up with their logo and completely ripped-off a name? Wow. I hope you got payed first.

Regarding the logo. I agree with Ivan. Quite flat, doesn't speak to me. Font choice isn't great, but I guess it'll do. I don't care for the colors - but again, they'll do.

Overall, it's not a "bad" logo, it's just that I feel like it **could be** so much more.

Trebuchet MS is a tired font. I'd never use it, even if it made a come back.
"Creative"? I can think of about two dozen companies of all kinds with that name -- in my hometown alone.

If the name doesn't imply what kind of business you're in (when I see an ad for "Jacuzzi King", there's no question as to what it is that they do, is there?), put some type to work and let us know what you're all about.

I do like the grey-red combo. Always have. The blocks are too generic, though. As if they came from the MS Office clipart collection.

Other than that... :)))))
