Logo for a plastic's company

RohanJM's picture

Hi all this is a logo for a plastic's company they manufacture plastic containers for various other products... Since plastic is man made i decided to dive down into the molecular structure and came up with this abstraction... it can also be viewed as little plastic boxes. Helvetica seemed to fit well.

The hexagons are more

The hexagons are more reminiscent of the natural world (honeycombs) and I'd love to see the helvetica in one style, probably that strong/bold style rather than both regular and bold.

It's a great start!

Also, start in black and white to make sure your shapes are working, then add color later.

Well,these are carbon rings,

Well, these are carbon rings, right? And plastics are...well, you know. I guess maybe the company would actually not mind being associated with Nature, unless it causes people to think too much about seabirds strangled by six-pack rings, etc.

I think it's pretty cool, actually, if a little derivative. I'm wondering how it would look to stress Raheja instead of Plastics.

hexagonal shapes

I may be wrong here, but hexagonal structures have been copied from nature to be used as a strong bonding technique so I think it might have some relevance here

A more appropriate molecular structure (SO2, if you must know, ha ha):

I like

The hexagons work for me though the hexes on the top left are getting too small for reproduction (if logo reduces at all). Helvetica works, but something about the font and mark is not playing well together. It could be a lot more exciting, I think.

Otherwise, nice first show.

I agree with caoimghin, you

I agree with caoimghin, you should probably just have three hexs, from small to large, left to right.

Thank you all for the

Thank you all for the comments now waiting for the client and trying to combine the text with the mark in a better way... what i thought that if the mark was to get too small id remove some of the other hexes for its use and i think they add a bit of mystery at just the right size.

If you're going to split the

If you're going to split the company name by font weight or type the actual name of the company should stand out not the anonymous word plastics. I do agree one should not split the company name up in the first place.

As for the mark I think the flow doesn't feel right. I think by rearranging the hexagons you could achieve more cohesion with the text. May I also suggest to only use two colors for the mark (one for foreground [green] the other for background [grey]) instead of six. Print out your design and then photocopy it with low quality. If your logo is still recognizable; job well done. If not change whatever won't reproduce.

However I like modern look of the logo. Something intrigues me...

Yep, do this logo in black

Yep, do this logo in black and white first to make sure your forms translate well to all sizes. Helps you focus too. :)
