Logo for health consutant
aaant (6 pencils) | Tue, 2012-08-07 07:10Dear friends,
Please help me improve this logo. The logo is for an aspiring health consultant who would guide an individual to a healthier way of living by designing a healthy food and exercise regime, fit for them specifically.

looks like a lobster claw
Larger please- hard to judge something I can barely see.
i can say simply from the small thumbnail that the three reds are too similar
Does anyone feel this is a negative depiction of "transforming a life"? The pose is more angelic and angels = death. I'd have more of an active, sport-like figure depicted given the market and content. Feels more religious than life preserving health.
Other than that I'm not sure it needs 3 colours to get the point across and the figure could be fine-tuned a bit if kept in that pose by focusing on: proper knee-angles, the left arm pit and shoulder and thighs. The text works for its purpose but shouldn't be "attached" to the logo because as those who had the chance to see the thumbnail size- it doesn't reduce well.
yeah. i see either the angel, crucifixion, or just getting kicked in the back... that is IF i can get past the lobster claw ; )
The idea is there (perhaps) - with some tweaking.
The entire body has a very funky shape. I'm guessing you traced around some kind of existing image to get the body shape? That might be the actual shape, but when you remove all the other interior details and are left with only the silhouette it looks a little wonky. This is where all those figure drawing classes come into play - you need to work on the outline because that's the only visual marker we have now. Use what you know about the human form to fix the shoulders, the arms, the chest... add a rear end... etc... Make it look more normal.
+1 to all of the above. The two red shapes are kind of like those gel pads they stick in some styles of bras for additional lift. Or kidneys. Overall impact: I'm cringing. Sorry.

If your judgement of art is as plastic as your face, designers need to be aware.
HEY! dont go getting personally hostile. you already said it wasnt a good logo. if you dont like the temperature of the water here - you are welcome to swim elsewhere...
Thank you. Actually, though, a plastic face could come in handy some days. I might look into that! ;)

Dude...calm down. That was way out of line, and also very childish of you. If you can't take honest critique, maybe you should think about a different line of work.
You'll be lucky to make it as far as Mara has in this business and if you take every critique personally... you won't. As a good friend once told me - when someone is trying to help you - shut up and listen. You might learn something.
I have the feeling that we've seen the last of Anshu. Oh well. Her loss. Everyone can benefit even from criticism that comes in the form of unfiltered snark, as long as it represents an honest first reaction. It can be a good test of how a client might react. The designer can either become defensive and get nowhere, or be receptive to the need for changes. This flexibility is essential in our profession. Of course, there are times when we can't please a client without compromising our integrity and we have to admit defeat. But we can't do that too often if we expect to stay in business.

Thank you for your comments everybody .. I am still around.. I have been taking all the changes into consideration. Especially the shape of the body ( I wish I had a better understanding of the anatomy), the colour especially and the text.
My advice for that would be to find some full-body photos in magazines, books, wherever and just start studying their shapes and sketching them. Get yourself a sketchbook and just start filling it with sketches of the human form. I'm currently working on the same thing myself. Practice makes perfect. :)
Well I gotta offer some respect for coming back after everyone hammered you on your remark.
Look at some other body silhouettes like yours - pay attention to shoulders, rear end, arms... Your mistake is a common one for newbies so nothing to be concerned about - these are the things you learn in the business.
maybe green or blue is better
I understand it's medicine but it can lose urgency feeling
type could be small caps, it's more friendly.
yes I'm brazilian xD
I agree with the comments above. Try to get the shape with more details, maybe between the legs and the stomach. With some details added, the flat white shape might look better (more volume). As qwertyale stated, try changing the red colour. You might as well need to change the fonts if ever colour alters.
It's really similar to thsi one:
