Logo in progress

Howdy,
I'm doing this job pro bono for my old high school, its my donation as an alumni, (ought to keep the donation dogs at bay). Basically the logo is for the high school's athletic programs to be on various uniforms.

I still have to figure out how this symbol will play out with the logotype. Like I said this is a work in progress.I am thinking the end result somewhat resembling the style of the new england patriots logo where the symbol is integrated with the type and both can be separated and exist on their own.

The colors of the sports team is black green and gold. BTW, their current logo is the minnesota vikings logo bastardized with the black green and gold color pallette.

Let me know what you guys think of the symbol thus far.

I like it. There is a strong, forward motion and it looks sleek. The colors could be a little more "jazzy," though there is something with what you have. The problem remains, though, that it doesn't read well small, not unless you know what it is in advance. At a small size it takes a moment to register. Otherwise, go vikings.

Your logo makes it seem like the viking is flying... I can understand your comparison to the new england patriots logo, but they do not have the person's head tilted like yours. Along with that awkwardness of the flying head, don't you think, for a school logo, the viking is not intimidating enough? (just a thought)

hope it helps

I think you've done a good prelim. But I feel if you reduce the art to a 1 color graphic you might find what your looking for. What you've got right now doesn't look intimidating at all. One color will make the logo SOLID. I'm thinking that's what you'd want for a sports team. After that worry about value if you need to.

On the subjective end I would say widen and lower the horns. Wide shoulders is a distinct charicteristic of a football player and might make the mark more dominate. this is just my opinion... of coarse you probly know that already... at least I hope so.

I agree with those comments. (especially dpc and part 2 of whitnet1)

I know it is a work in progress, but make sure you consider line weights too. All the same=bad.

I think its a great logo for a high school team, one suggestion would be to change the eye, maybe something a little more squintier (not sure if that's a word, but I'm sure you get what I mean) just some way to make him look a little more angry.
