Looking for an easy, light, photo database solution for web.
kenyabob (303 points) | Tue, 2006-09-12 22:17I am doing a webpage for my universities website, and we need to create a page where we can archive the "photo of the week," which is on the splash page of the students login page. It needs to be able to present the photos title and caption, as well as date, and also all these fields must be searchable (there also has to be a search).
Previously, way back in the day, I used 4images, but that was a bit ghetto. I understand now Coppermine is somewhat similar, though I hardly need anything that bulky. Do you guys have any suggestions for something that would do this job, and lightly?

I know it's a bit of overkill for what you need but I love menalto Galler 2. It just work's so well and has ways to plug in to most other top opensource CMS systems too.

It's pretty simple to install if you have good access to the server (FTP is sometime ok).
If you need something a little simpler try one of these instead:
http://scripts.webmastersite.net/wsngallery
http://www.php-mysql-tutorial.com/image-gallery
http://yapig.sourceforge.net
http://tftgallery.sourceforge.net
There are loads more on sourceforge.org if you can be bothered to trawel through there awful navigation system ;-)

How easy it is to style this sucker, how is the markup the gallery outputs?
