Looking for a new printer.
The Letter D (66 pencils) | Sun, 2010-08-15 17:50My printing guy is packing up shop and moving out of town so the search for a new printer is on.
What are some of the things you guys look for when choosing a solid printing company?
If it doesn't sell, it isn't creative.

For me it's all about quality and customer service, you want to know that the print you receive is going to match your expectations. I would always recommend looking for a lithographic printer, the quality is far superior than digital and there are now many litho printers that have low quantity options at very reasonable prices.
It's also an idea to build a relationship with your printer and know they will answer the phone if you have a problem, need advice or want artwork checked over.
I would get myself some sample packs and double check with all printing quotes whether it's for digital printing or lithographic printing, then weigh up the pros and cons and decide from there. If you are a designer looking to print items on behalf of your clients it might be a good idea to find a local printer, so if any problems occur or you would like any samples they are only a stones throw away, plus you can build a more personal relationship.
Hope this helps in your decision making.

Agree with Anonymous. The client sees you, not the supplier, so you better have one that's all that.
