I'm currently working on a project called "Don't destroy your best mate". The goal is to re-design a product you can't live without (don't ask why mine is butter!).
I have tried to modernize and give the brand more impact by utilizing the Danish flag (it's a Danish product) and updating the typography.
Any tips/ideas about how I could take this further would be much appreciated.

A good start...
but I have just a couple of comments. First, the color doesn't really say "butter" to me. Yellow would, of course, but I think maybe you could try blue as well. Some sort of illustration or photograph of the product would help get the idea across as well. The type seems a bit too modern and cold for the product - butter is kind of an "old fashioned" product to my mind, and my first gut feeling is that a serif or script would be better. Or, maybe just a sans serif with a bit more "personality" - a grotesque like Franklin Gothic maybe. I like the flag idea, and my feeling is that you should continue with it, which kind of makes my comments on color above a bit moot. Perhaps you could keep the red but temper it with some other colors. Nice job - keep at it!
Screams "Danish"!
I don't know what other butter labels look like there but if this is the only one with the flag displayed so prominently on it then it will certainly stand out.
I'm curious how this label will be applied to the product, is it for a box or for a wrapped stick of butter? I'm wondering if it needs to be any clearer that this is butter, maybe it would be obvious once on the shelf with other butter products.
Is it just me?
....or the "Slightly Salted" frase (at first, I must admit I read "Slighty Slanted", which kind made sense due to the slant in the flag) on the right white stripe of the flag almost unreadable? Also, the diagonal white stripe on the shield seems kind of awkward, maybe too thin or weird-looking since it doesn´t converge well to the shield outline. Pardon my ignorance, it may be something pre-established that you can´t alter.
Anyways, looks nice. Keep up the good work! This coming from a mediocre Bueno Aires, Argentina Graphic Design student, but hey ... hope it helps. ;)
