Additional iTunes libraries

create new itunes library

Let's say you want to have a separate iTunes library for a family member or your audiobooks. You can create one simply by pressing and holding the Alt (Option) button while starting up iTunes. The first time you do that you will be able to create a new library that is completely independent from your primary one. From than on, each time you start iTunes with the Alt button you will have a choice to choose from the libraries you created.

Thanks Ivan, that's a nice tip. I'd been using iPhoto Buddy along with iPhoto to do the same in that application. But I like the fact that you can do that with iTunes as well.

like the mintsauce-mentioned iPhoto Buddy, there is an app that manages the libraries for you

it's called Libra, and can be found here: http://homepage.mac.com/sroy/libra/

it's shareware, but there is no limits on using it without registering [it just pops up with a thing every now and again]
