Leopard 10.5.2 update not compatible with Linotype FontExplorer X
JimD (2617 points) | Tue, 2008-02-12 01:56If anyone depends on Linotype FontExplorer X I would suggest you wait with updating to MacOS X 10.5.2. The dock hangs as soon as you try to open a stack while Linotype FontExplorer X is running. Quitting FontExplorer fixes the problem.
Suitcase is apparently immune to whatever is causing the problem.

Yeah, I just noticed the same thing. Everything seemed to be Ok until I tried to export a few fonts, then the entire Finder came to a grinding halt. Blehh
Thanks for the head's up. I'm hopeful they are working on a fix post haste?

Best to switch off the Automatic Software Update till this issues is resolved either from Apple's or Linotype's side.
Some folks are reporting no problems at all on my site. However, the vast majority of sites across the Mac web are saying that while Linotype works, it kills the Dock, as well as other problems.
FWIW, I NEVER use the Software Update panels on these updates. I always download the Combo Update from Apple's site.

Glad my work Mac is still on Tiger. I couldn't live without FontExplorer there. Youch.
Home business Mac made the leap to Leopard ... but I don't manage fonts with FontExplorer there. Just the old fashioned manual way, drag in, drag out.

I'm having major issues this morning... Safari hangs, Can't open apps, apps overlap each other... I'm taking JimD's advice and reinstall the update from the dmg off Apples website.
I am running FontExplorer btw.

After reinstalling the 10.5.2 update and restarting my machine, FontExplorer started up and requested an update. Updated it and everything is working fine.

Glad to hear everything worked out for you. For future reference, not only should you always download the COMBO update for the OS, but you can also re-apply it to fix minor problems for certain issues. There's just less problems when you use combo updates.

New update this morning fixes the 10.5.2 issues. That was quick.
Right, there's an update for linotype. Download it.
Safari and Firefox is buggy and freeze my macbook pro... and when I want to use the external monitor I've got I have to unplug it before restarting and plug it in after... and I can't close the macbook and only use the external... what did Apple do here??
If you've updated to the latest OS possible, which I think is 10.5.2, then welcome to the cutting edge of software; this means you suffer bugs and quirks until they are fixed. I'd recommend not downloading every update apple sends right away, give it a month or two and let everyone else figure out what the bugs are. :)
