The Mac App Store is now live.
With the Mac App Store, getting the apps you want on your Mac has never been easier. No more boxes, no more disks, no more time-consuming installation. Click once to download and install any app on your Mac. The Mac App Store is now available as a software update for any Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Here is a short review about how it all works. As a start download the Apps Store App application to your Mac just by running the System Update.

Once your restart your Mac there will be a new icon in your dock: App Store. Click it to open the home page, which looks very much the like the iTunes App Store for iOS apps.
Browse through the applications, read reviews and see screen shoots. Once you found something you like simply click the Buy button. The App Store will prompt you to login to your Apple account, which is the same you've been using with iTunes.
Once you agree to terms the app will start downloading in your dock. You will be able to see a progress bar to see how much of the app has been downloaded.

Once complete you can immediately start using the application. In the App Store the newly purchased app will appear under the Purchases page.

Once there is an update to this app it will show up on the Updates page.
What are your thoughts? Do you like the functionality, will use the Mac App Store?

Had to restart a couple of times, but when installed works very well. Very easy to purchase Aperture at a much reduced rate of £45, compared to £173 boxed.
Also having a play with Sketchbook Express, looking very good in full screen in the cinema display.
Top delivery system, but like the regular app store navigation may become an issue.

you had said this in one of your older blogs and i was curious because my Wacom Intuos 9x12 does this and i am very irritated by it. i was wondering if you had a solution for changing it. I have Windows Vista if that helps.
Please and Thank you
No, that's a feature of tablets. :)

It changes the experience of using a computer. The way the app bounces to the dock on purchase makes the whole thing feel more integrated. Add in the changes that 10.7 will bring and I think the old days of osx, never mind os 9 will be drawing to a close.
