Put your display to sleep at an instant
Ivan | Wed, 2009-08-19 15:03
There are several reasons to put your display to sleep whenever possible:
- Saves your display
- Saves electricity
- Saves power in a laptop battery
- Saves private info on screen from preying eyes
- Saves the whales
To put the display to sleep at an instant just press:
CTRL-Shift-Eject

Is that a Leopard thing? My G5 Mac with 10.4 doesn't seem to do that. Eep.
Sorry, it must be a Leopard thing. Thanks for checking on Tiger.
You could always do the hot corners thing, so that you can put you cpu to sleep or monitor to sleep via putting your cursor in the corner. I use this for my mac. If you are looking for it, Its in the screen saver section of your utilities.
