Mac Pro benchmarks are in!
mck (0 pencils) | Fri, 2006-08-11 14:55Bare Feats tested the 2.66 GHz Mac Pro against the Quad G5 in Photoshop and After Effects.

This is amazing - the Quad is only 37% faster than the 2.66 Mac Pro (I'm assuming the Mac Pro is closer to it), and this is with emulation! Wait till a Universal Binary version of Photoshop comes out next year, this thing will really fly. In any case, don't be afraid to buy a Mac Pro if you have to run Photoshop now, because it probably beats every PPC machine except the Quad.

Neat...
Do you know if Rosetta is stable enough? I mean anybody experienced unexpected quits with any of the CS2 products?

Rosetta is very stable. No probs whatsoever. You don't even notice it.
Hmmm, very tempting... I've been drooling on a 17" MacBook Pro since its release.. I'm currently negotiating a big project, if I land it, I'll get me a new toy :)

Little remark on the original message :)
The PowerMac G5 Dual 2.7GHz is at least as fast as the G5 Quad 2.5Ghz, if not faster. Photoshop is only optimized for 2 processors, not more, if I remember correctly.
The benchmarks on this site prove me right. The G5 Dual 2.7 competes side by side with the G5 Quad 2.5 with equal amounts of ram.
Anyways, it's one hell of a machine and it has a very bright future.
