MacHeist II Bunle goes on sale

A while back I told you about the MacHeist II promotion, a follow-up to last year's wildly successful Mac software promo. This year's sequal, 4 fun-filled missions resulting in free applications has just come to a close and the final bundle is on sale now.
MacHeist featured four somewhat difficult "missions" to solve, resulting in a handful of free applications and a coupon you can use toward the purchase of the final bundle. Agents completing all four missions received a total of $10 off the final $49 bundle price, as well as the following applications for free:
- Monkey Lover - game
- Sofa Control - adds apps to the Apple Remote capability
- XSlimmer - removes unused code from applications (removes PPC code on Intel Macs)
- DEVONnote - great note taking app similar to Yojimbo
- Hana - browser marquee app
- Billy Frontier - old western shooter app
- VoiceCandy - audio recording app featuring alerts, voice email, etc.
- Freeze Frame - puts all your processor's power into one app at a time
- Podcast Maker - make podcasts
- Wallet - store passwords, serial numbers, etc.
- Catalog - catalog your CDs, DVDs, etc. in a searchable database
- Mouseposé - dims your entire screen back except for an area around your mouse (great for presentations)
- Runic - another game (pong meets warcraft)
- iota-Calc - a software programmers calculator
- WireTap Pro - easily record any sound your Mac makes - great for recording streaming music, etc.
- Overflow - an app launcher that inspired Apple's "stacks" feature - but better
- Santa's Gizmo - a Christmas shopping list manager
- Bit Clamp - secure encryption app
In my opinion, it was worth participating just for the free "loot" listed above. But now that the final bundle has gone on sale, lets take a look at what you get for your $49:
- 1Password - the best password manager for the Mac
- Cover Sutra - iTunes add-on
- Cha-Ching - finance app
- iStop Motion - make stop-motion movies
- Awaken - alarm clock that integrates with iTunes
- AppZapper - the app delete program Apple should have made
- TaskPaper - a small note/list app
- CSSEdit - easily create and edit CSS style sheets
- Snapz Pro - an awesome snapshot and desktop movie making app
- Pixelmator - a very cool Photoshop-like image editor
When 5,000 bundles have been sold:
When even more bundles have been sold (actual number not known)
When a lot of bundles have been sold (actual number not known)
I can almost guarantee that MacHeist will sell enough bundles so that buyers get all 10 apps. They aren't going to let this thing fail. Even if you buy now before the last three apps are unlocked, you'll get them when they are unlocked.
Unlike last year's promotion, all these apps are fully-upgradeable apps, and some are even exclusive version releases the general public doesn't have access to yet.
You can also "gift" some of the apps if you wish, using the registration info of a friend if you don't want the app.
Say what you will about how promotions like this financially hurt developers. Nobody twisted their arm to participate, but there's no denying that MacHeist has made it fun and rewarding for Mac users to participate, and maybe introduced some apps you didn't know even existed.
I'm looking forward to more MacHeist in the future.

Thanks for writing about this a while back. I participated in all 4 heists, had a great time not getting my work done, and now have a boat load of new apps.
I purchased the bundle, and I'm hoping you're right about them selling enough bundles. I'm most eager to use cssedit.
Another great thing is that 25% of the profits are going to charity.

I bought my bundle :) MacHeist is a great deal.
£332 worth of software for only £20! ($157 worth of it for free) + a few weeks of fun games.
how can you argue with that!?
roll on MH3
Don't buy my quality Elvis or
Hendrix pop art prints!
Brilliant idea for a promo...although I didn't have time to do the missions it's brought a lot of nifty apps to my attention anyway so I'll definitely buy the bundle...plus the fun aspect of seeing whether they've unlocked additional apps keeps customer attention for even longer. Very clever :-)
I like the whole Macheist idea. It's a fun way to get some not-so-known apps out there. Many of these I've never heard of but would like to try out. I'll have to pick up the bundle too.
BTW Jim, your post title has "bunle" instead of bundle.;)
