I was worried about the sharpness, too. Might also be a little thin. I did the same thing as you did, with the mark on top, and ANAMCARA together, in the two different colors. It struck me as a little "royal" looking, like a coat of arms. I'd like to see what you did, though. Did you post it somewhere?
well, there are different parts of the health industry. for a hospital, clean lines would be better. for a holistic group, a softer edge makes more sense.
i agree that the knot/flower have come a long way and i think you're in the right place there. only thing i would worry about are the little circles disappearing when it's small.
the type still is looking a bit off for me. my first inclination is to say try something a little more organic that feels at home with the knot.
Greg, I started out with predictable Celtic-calligraphic fonts that I felt were, well, too predictable. Others here felt the same way. I'll try some others that might strike a balance. Thanks for the feedback. The little circles are really intended to be just dots, of the type used in old Irish illuminated text and other artwork. If they don't read as circles, that's actually okay.
with the circles, i meant more that they might disappear at smaller sizes. and that if offset printed (especially if not on a quality sheet), dot gain might fill them in.
i think you may have to look at this as a modified font thing. maybe search for the right typeface out there, then modify it to more closely match your logo style. it's almost something that cries out for custom lettering if you can't find the right font, but i don't know if that's your thing or if you really want to put that kind of time into it.
Greg, thanks. I do know what you mean. My first version involved that very thing, in fact. I've already put an enormous amount of time into this, but it is my sister-in-law, after all. I love the woman and want her to have my best work, but it just isn't coming. Grrr! I posted another shot at this. Maybe it's closer. My husband likes it, but I dunno.

Font is moving in the right direction. Perhaps a bit 'sharp' for a wellness industry, no? Still, it's getting there.
I did a small experiment bringing the icon above the text and pulling ANAMCARA together. I liked. Tell me what you think.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.

hey this is great mara! it's worlds better then your original post.
The knot / lotus redesign looks awesome, i really like it!
I actually am quite fond of the typeface, but for some reason the kerning looks a bit off.
The "sharp" lines of the type say 'clean' to me, which i think would be good in the health industry?

The kerning on ANAM is off in the sample here. I've since fixed it, but my Internet service was down last night and I couldn't switch it out.
