Micro-laptops thoughts

Even though this is mainly a Mac-orientated community I would like to know what do you guys think about the boom of micro-laptops around.

I mean, computers like the Asus EeePc are selling big time, and even though these are oriented for users-on-the-go, I would like to know if we (designers) could make something useful (for our jobs!) out of them. Lets say, for instance to run Photoshop there, or something like that.

Any thoughts on micro-portable computers?

yeah, i struggle running any CS apps comfortably on a 15.4 laptop screen.

i think the micros are good for surfing and using general office apps, but are not built for doing any real design. you also have to remember that they generally have less computing power and RAM capacity.

I see no value in an underpowered, undersized screen laptop simply for surfing the Web. The MacBook Air is about as low as I would want to go as far as that stuff goes.

Looking at the design tools available on the iPod Touch and iPhone, I think that would, at the moment, be a far better tool for the average designer on the go.

That said, a netbook set up as a paired-down coding platform could come in very handy for web development on the move!
