Missing font problem

Hi,

I work with artworks. in one of the artwork that i received, it was a pdf artwork. when i try to open the file in illustrator cs, i get the message that fonts are missing and it asks for substituion fonts. i tried to contact my customer to either give me an open file or a file with fonts embedded or give me the fonth, but he says that this is what i have.

can any one tell me how to solve this missing fonts problem. i do not have the fonts.

Explain that the fonts aren't embedded and talk them through how to embed them properly, or search for and install the fonts.

Hi, He can just open up the file and if he has the fonts, than just tell him to outline the types (make curves) so that all you have to do is print. IF its not for finished artwork then you're in for a sticky wicket. Getting non-tech people to suplly me with fonts is ALWAYS a pain, they NEVER get it right.

Art Files is a great program for collecting Illustrator files. Collects fonts and images.

Have them send you a PDF/X-1a file and fonts/graphics should be included in the file.
