I think this is a hit. Tell me what ya'll think.

Way too many shapes if you ask me. I think it could be even more minimalistic, just like the product. It's brilliant that you want to play with negative space that way, but this is a little overkill.
That shape on the bottom right? Drop it. Simplify this a little more. Stick to representing the M as a chair.
Right now, this isn't minimalistic, simple or functional.

+1 on the too many shapes thing.
way too much going on to digest...
i think i see an M and d. but im not sure im supposed to.
Excellent! (M & D(d)) The letter shapes would be reinforced with the name of the company so you'd be more sure as you looked at it.
OK, working on a smoother version.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
Way cool. You should consider redesigning their website as well.
I agree it's too complicated, but the style is really cool.
It's pretty bold, which I think takes away from it being minimalistic as said above.
Perhaps if it wasn't so heavy / bulk, and if you played around with what you have so far, you will get there. The M and the D are evident, however, the D may be a little harder to find off the bat, but like you said, with the Name beside it - it would be hard not to miss.
Suggestions... try getting rid of the overhang for the letter M and bring the triangular negative white space a little higher on the seat. Also play around with the negative space on the back of the seat. Perhaps bringing the point into the back could work too. Not sure if making the back recline more (or italicizing - if that makes sense) would be worth trying out. And definitely get rid of the leg that holds up the square in the D. I don't think you need it, and it might help reading the D a little more clearer.
It looks as though you brought the leg back a little bit farther to help show the back of the D... I like that. Well I hope your concept ends up working in the long run.
Sidenote: I quite admire your creativity. It's evident to me that from your next car logo, and this one, that you're not afraid to take risks. Did this concept hit paper before technology also? - Cheers
Definitely sketched out, along with a few dozen other ideas. ;-) I think I have the solution. Will post shortly.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
Good start point.
I made a logo like yours for an Architect Office, mine is more simply because has a unique letter.
I think you could develop the "D" a bit more.
yes I'm brazilian xD
Agree with the simplify sentiment. The middle of the m that's bent over the front is unnecessary. So is the D square and maybe the left leg of the m that runs along the ground.
Hey qwerty - I saw something in the other thread about your vacation - you were down here in South Florida? Sorry I didn't get the message - I don't see any place to read mail on the board here. Where is it? Hope people haven't been mailing me cuz I've been ignoring it. :)
I think it's shaping up.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
Defintely simplified, but I rather liked the angular approach in the original submission, especially since the curves don't look quite straight in this one, it looks a little more amateurish. It looks a little less like a chair now as well.
I think the only thing that needed to be done with the other one was that weird shape on the bottom right and maybe make the middle point of the M, well, pointy.

Final. I'll work with color tomorrow but I think the bones are there. Couldn't have done it without you guys.

That little part on the right is reaaaaally buggin' me! Have you tried it without it?

I did! It just kinda hangs out threatening to fall over. However, I do have another solution for that part which I'll show tomorrow. Let me know.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
Awesome!
As per the comment below - Yeah a little unbalanced on the top left - visually I presume.
As per the comment above -I think the small piece on the right is necessary for the D, and it gives the chair balance, let alone a platform. Perhaps the piece could show the curve on the top left as well.
The curves don't make the bulk such a bad thing anymore - love it!
Now you'll just have to design the chair in real life, and then either sell it via MD, or have IKEA take it on!!!
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING!!??? Christ on a crutch if I have to see another half assed design I'm gonna puke my guts out!
1) Increase radius at base of chair. Not feeling the modern curve as it moves into base.
2) Introduce curve at the seat of the chair. I feel like I'm going to slide off it!
3) Remove strange thing at bottom right. Replace with negative space of 'd' in perspective.
4) What is going on with the neg-space at top of M? Fix it!
You might have a logo here, but it's gonna need some love and care. Stop whining and be a designer! There's no crying in design!

This a self reflect or comment from someone else?

It's becoming interesting, I don't like the top, the shape of two negative spaces mainly and the fact that top seems not balanced, the left top seems bigger than right.
yes I'm brazilian xD
My God it does doesn't it?! The math (I believe) is all correct. I'll double check it but if it's fine, then I'll be adjusting for optical weirdness.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
Agree with Leaky's comment about the shape bottom right-hand...it's awkward.
Have you tried flopping any of your versions to make the "D" more apparent?

Flopping? A flop on vertical would make it a 'b'.

Not if it's the base and a capital D...just a thought...

This logo is very strange. If I breath on it it changes dramatically. OK, I'll work the shape some more tomorrow.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
You have to get the lines and angles correct on something like this. You're "slide off" comment is dead nuts - it doesn't feel like a chair anymore because the curves are too loose. There are actual chairs with that design - use one to get the proper overall shape first. Then you need to make the "d" more evident. A lip on the top back of the chair might be used to mark the very top of the "d" ascender - give the letter a little more shape. But I like the fact that now you have basically a lower case "m" and a lower case "d". Imho, the center leg of the "m" doesn't have to extend all the way down either. You can just leave the space there - don't show the bottom side of the left leg showing thru if it mucks things up.
Just a couple ideas.
Updated the orig... Think I'm losing the iconic simplicity of the previous rounds.

If I ever need to purchase a wheelchair I know where to go.
Instead of trying to represent the M and the D, maybe just try for the M?

Thank again for all the help.
If it's not the best mark in the world, it's not because of lack of effort. It was very challenging to execute and I can sleep soundly knowing it was the best mark I could make. Anyway, I like the idea of sleep.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
This mark is great for what you are using it for. I says modern, and has a great style ,... and is SIMPLE.. Modern=Simple. If you have room for color, at a flash or orange. Otherwise, go with it.
it still has not a proportion of a chair...
if it could a bit more proportional I could say comfortable to look and feel good. :)
it is still like a melt cheap plastic chair... you can do it better.
yes I'm brazilian xD
If I can do better, it won't be today. There is the result of 20+ hours. I'll just call it a learning experience. ;-)
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
don't give up. this could be beautiful.
the seat of the chair isn't sitting right, it is on a slope, you would slide off if you sat in it. I know this would thin down the strokes representing the horizontal on the seat part of the chair but it will add depth and I think the letterforms will still be obvious.
I really like this. keep tweaking.

i think you had it better a few versions back. the current version is looking forced and VERY self-conscious.
the best of these kind of marks looks as if they just "are"
and werent forced into being
i think if you just slightly round the corners where the back meets the seat. lengthen the back (arrows) and round the top corners of the back. you'll be onto something...
you might also try "hour-glassing" ) ( the back. between the top of the back and where the seat starts... just a thought.
You prefer the straight back one? Interesting. I *think* the latest round is an improvement but to each their own. I'll see if the client bites the current version and maybe play a bit more as you suggest.

as probably the one here closest in age to the market youre talking to. yeah.

Hi,

From starting I liked your 1st approch who ever says what.... it was simple but bold.
It reminds me the simplicity of Beyon Furniture Logo
And I may have started from here (just an idea)...

but all the way I liked your 1st attempt(which is given on your description) with very little touch-ups
Thanks!

Not any more.
Great logo. I think the first rendering is the most effective of all the images here. Just need to fix the perspective a bit.
The first one is definitely the best. It feels the most sophisticated. It's smooth and clean. Feels the most like a modern piece of furniture. I love the little bit on the back and the it way creates a sense of 3d right on that curve. wouldn't mind seeing some more of the dimensional quality. maybe the d would read better if that little piece were a bit shorter. that part of the d would never be so deep. maybe that's it. maybe the whole seat area needs to be a little shorter to help the d read. and definitely fix the perspective. it's a subtle thing but will definitely confuse the eye. the top of the M and the bottom front are not heading toward to same point in space. good work!
