MULTICAST SOLUTIONS LOGO
Alexander (74 points) | Mon, 2005-08-29 16:12Well, here's the deal..
Multicast is a fairly new IT-company. They deliver multiple services (Billing-terminals, IP-phone, IP-fax, Commercial TV, GSM and WiFi) through a regular DSL-connection. How it works i really don't know.. Anyways...
The logo idea/concept here is based on the fact that they deliver a lot of services through one point (i.e. instead of having to deal with a bunch of companies for each service, you deal with just one).
These are three suggestions i'm about to hand in to them, and i would really appreciate some feedback on them.. If you have additional ideas based on the "through-one-point"-concept i would gladly hear them!
Thanks in advance!

The third logo is just a muck-up that i made very fast. I am well aware that the symbol is out of proportions (the little triangles).
The First one looks a little like the Comcast logo (www.comcast.net)
Number Two has a hippy grassroots appeal(Which i like). and the 3rd one looks a little dull.. but keep trying i think you know what you want and that's a good start. NUMBER 2!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :) I agree on the 3rd one..
# 2 IMO 2 :c) Much better! Also, if you turn it upside down it almost looks like it has an "M" and a "C"

I like #1 most. #2 is too peaced out for me, and #3 a little bland.
Could you modify #1 so that there is a dip in the middle of the curves - eg so it looked almost like an M on it's side, as well as a C? {That might hint more at convergence as well}
#1: Comcast. #2: Peace, man. #3: I think this is the best one so far, though partially because of process of elimination.
Thanks for all the nice feedback so far!
It's nice to see some diverse opinions, that means all of the logos are candidates (to some extent).
However, i spoke to the client again. And they seemed to be wanting something along the lines of:
The 2nd logo is the base of the idea. I've flipped the logo vertically, it now symbolizes "growth" (a tree) as well as an "M". I also removed the two "dots" so it would be a little less like the peace-symbol.
I have to give credits to Greg for the suggestion.
In addition, i've reduced the number of colors from around four to two - to simplify it and reduce some printing expenses.
Any more inputs on this (almost final) result? :)
2nd logo form reminds me on Atari. And on few other logos ... much better when rotated (main shape now also reminds on human figure with widespread hands), but still needs some work on simplification and dynamics of shape. Without any surpluses, for now - but good starting point for further work.

Oh yeah, the Atari logo is the other thing that the original #2 reminded me of that was nagging at me. This revision is a lot nicer, the switch to 2 colors does an amazing job I think! Still not really big on that shape personally, but this is certainly going in a better direction.
I was going to say that I liked the second one but the symbol resembled the Atari symbol a bit too much. By simply turning it upside down you've taken care of that.
Two colors instead of four will cut down on printing costs, sure, but I also think it looks better. Simple is good
Alexander,
I threw this together, more as an experiment. I know it could use some work, but maybe you could consider this as a direction.
Hope it inspires you.
wms out.
i like the revised version of the second one, i'd pick that one and go from there. nice job.
I really like the colors. They are very retro, but in a novel way if it makes any sense. I like the first logo, but the crescent is very islamic for me. I don't think the same association will be made in the west though. The second one is definitely Atari. That's probably not a good idea. The third one is not working at all. Good luck and I think you should spend some more time coming up with some more ideas for this logo.
I agree with a lot you say there Ivan.. I really didn't think of that until now.
However, i don't think you saw the revised version of the second logo a little scroll upwards from here.. I would say the "peace" and "atari" (never thought of that, but i see resemblance) feel of the logo is pretty much gone.
wmmarc, thanks for the input, but i think that one would be more appropriate for a radio- or broadcasting station. :P
I'll take all of your advices into consideration before delivering this to the client.. Thanks for your time and sharp eyes! :)
