Music concert badges (small badges)
Christine (10 pencils) | Mon, 2008-05-12 11:48These are 4 badges for a music concert similar to Cokefest. I would appreciate any input or criticism regarding them. They are small badges and the concert encompass all music genres. I tried to show a specific genre dance move with every badge. The color for the event correspond with the badges. I wanted to show how the music moves people. The logo has similar tentacle effects.
Thanks!

First off, not bad. But, these remind me very strongly of Apple's iTunes campaign. Do you have some other designs/options?

Agree; too reminiscent of Apple's silhouettes. Also, you'd mentioned that these buttons were going to be small. I'd take care on legibility with reduction. I'd look at a way of either marrying the graphic(s) and wording so as to give prominence to both, or encircling the edge with text and leaving the center free for graphics.
I'd also lose the top left one--I realize your portraying audio, but it appears as if ear wax is exploding out.

LOL! Okay, I really didn't like the head with yellow flames coming out of it... but now, I really really don't like it. Too funny...
For the first badge you could use Sin, Cosine waves coming out of the ears, or across the background.
I like your badges, but have to agree they do look like the apple ipod campaigns.
Maybe try using club backgrounds.
For the breakdancing person maybe use a cardboard box under him.
Maybe Illustrate the Guitar on the woman?
Just some suggestions... I know a badge is small, so i dont know how much detail you could put in there.
otherwise, I WANT A BADGE TOO!!! :)
I also think this is really good work, I am just not sure about the tentacle badge, that's the first one, there's no message on it and if I didn't know it was designed for a music event I wouldn't have guessed it. As for the other badges I think they are just perfect and they are fit together.
