My SQL databases
2shanda (136 pencils) | Fri, 2007-07-27 19:30I am first a print designer, but my new company is thrusting a web project on me (and they know nothing about web) Thus.. HELP!
I assume once a developer sets up a MySQL database for the client, they don't need any special software or platform to update their site with new text and pictures. We haven't choses a developer yet, or else I would ask them.
My client needs to know these things before they sign the contract.
What simple answer can I give them?

Mysql is like a filing cabinet.. you would need to develop back end script to retrieve the data held within a mysql database.
I have minimal experience with actually working with the databases and such but i've set up plenty...
once you have the site built to communicate with your database the client should have no need to have someone help update anything.. to answer your question
So i assume that the client can just make the updates through a browser, correct? They don't need any software do they?

yeah they can do all the changes in their browser if set up correctly..
check out opensourcecms.org they have some demos of different cms's (content management systems) they are all database driven.. you can test them out and download them if you want to take a look at how its all driven...
