Nature's Table
siiren.be.heard (7 points) | Sun, 2009-01-11 17:31The name is not definite yet since our sales people like to change their mind after I start working on something. This is for a possible new brand name for dried ingredients. It would be sold in run of the mill grocery stores. The sales person wants an earthy look since a majority of the products will be organic, some what pricey.

You lack contrast. For shelf products you need strong presence. Otherwise I like the yellow dot, it jumps off the shelf. The type needs to be bolder and stronger.
True, also bright happy natural colors that associate colors of foods we enjoy eating, that's kind of a dried sage color, or overcooked canned peas, but people want to think about fresh herbs and veggies. think peas and brocolli and corn-on-the-cob yellow: they are brilliant greens and yellows (when cooked properly)
I think that going for a "dirt" association to represent organic products is a mistake and I'll never understand the reasoning behind it. personally I like clean food, I like my veggies to look healthy, not dirty. when I pick veggies from the garden, I put the ones that are dull colored in the compost, not in my cooking pot.
So when I shop, I look for the ones that remind me of what I want to eat. Besides people who shop for organic food specificly look for the text on the package that says "organic", and now most stores have an organic produce section, or at least the ones in my area do.
as to the mark itself, I like it. reminds me of a sunflower which is great for the healthfood nuts (if you'll forgive the pun) it brings to mind sunflowers, the sun, nature, vegetables.
I like the bottom pair, but don't really like the fonts for any of them. Besides I'd wait until sales actually picks one permanantly and just work on the mark until then... worry about the text later... the mark would fit whatever they choose in the end anyway.

Thank you both. I will work on it some more.
